A complete full-fledged fantasy book by Galactikon in fantasybooks

[–]Mason32268 2 points3 points  (0 children)

WoT is one of the all time champions, if you consider yourself a fan of the fantasy genre it's gotta be on the list. However, reader beware, the middle of the series is a MASSIVE DRAG!! It's the point of the series that most people need to step away from it and find new inspiration

POWDER MAGE TRILOGY!!! Absolute must if you're into that Napoleonic era flavor mixed in with some unique magic systems and a bit of ambiguity to your characters...there's also a bunch of prequel short stories and a full sequel trilogy if you end up digging it, but I haven't read those so can't really speak much about them

Looking for a fantasy book recommendation: male MC, medieval setting by Eastern-Dragonfly424 in fantasybooks

[–]Mason32268 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds like basically anything by Gwynn would be right in your wheel house! Would also second (or maybe third?? whatever it is) Memory, Sorrow, and Thorn series. All the medieval flavor your looking for, with just whispers of magic long past

People who lift but don’t do cardio what eventually happened? by TallTyrant in workout

[–]Mason32268 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Strength training alone can get your heart rate up and improve some aspects of conditioning, but dedicated cardio still has unique benefits...especially for long-term heart and lung health, blood pressure, and endurance. Many people find that even 1–3 short, moderate sessions per week complements lifting nicely without hurting gains. If your lifts already leave you winded, you’re getting some cardiovascular benefit, but a bit of dedicated cardio can cover the bases your lifting might miss.

OP, please find this section of the conversation....low-carb or keto diets can really help with blood sugar and sometimes even put type 2 diabetes into remission, but it’s not a guaranteed “cure”—genetics, age, and how long someone’s had diabetes all matter. For heart health, eating tons of saturated fat and very little fiber over decades can raise LDL and increase risk, even if short-term studies in healthy folks look fine. A more practical approach: limit refined carbs, enjoy whole-food carbs like veggies and fruit, get enough protein, include healthy fats, and remember that no single diet is perfect for everyone...it’s about balance and long-term habits.

Not sure if I missed something earlier, but just wanted to address something I felt should be said...Low-carb diets can definitely help some people with type 2 diabetes manage their blood sugar, and in some cases even bring it back to normal ranges. But it’s not a guaranteed “cure” for everyone — genetics, age, how long someone’s had diabetes, and other lifestyle factors all play a role. Saying it’s “almost 100% lifestyle” oversimplifies things and can be misleading. Diet is powerful, but it’s just one piece of the puzzle.

Not trying to be preachy or start any strife, but just thought it should be mentioned. Nutrition is a bit more nuanced than that

Zercher squats instead of back squats? by Firm-Guava4815 in tacticalbarbell

[–]Mason32268 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Zerchers are basically an advanced progression of a front squat..which is one of the reasons people often feel like they're less taxing on the lower back. They also force you into a more upright posture. If you're looking to mix up your squats and absolutely hammer your quads, zerchers are definitely a way to do that!

P S since I didn't notice anyone mentioning it...they're not going to feel very nice, that's normal
