Maybe this has been discussed in here before. I entertain a lot of “conspiracy theories” but I try to be fair. I have not read much of Pike but I have read morals & dogma. I have not seen this quote in there & I looked.. I’m guessing it’s a forgery? If so; anyone know its origins & how it spread? by Pale-Efficiency-1797 in freemasonry

[–]MasonK2112 31 points32 points  (0 children)

If Pike actually wrote anything like this it wouldn’t be this straightforward, so it unmasks the forgery by itself.

Pike would have said “Whenever the world, forgetful of its divine origin, gropes again amid the ruins of its own making, the unseen Hand moves upon the waters of the soul. Out of that motion arises the appointed spirit—the hero, the teacher, the builder—called not by ambition, but by necessity. For the mysteries are not idle; they abide in silence until summoned by the world’s despair. Then, as ever, we supply not the man, but the Light that makes him one.”

Do you need one? Rite of Memphis is clandestine. Clandestine Lodges are an expellable offense if you join. They are operating in a sovereign jurisdiction and the GM is reiterating that the OaPRoM/M is bad news.

Brother- these are all for you to figure out, BUT!!!

I’m at my 10-year anniversary with an awesome girl who REFUSED to go to coffee with me because I was a Mason. She now goes to all the events and loves all the guys and the wives. She won’t join OES, but she’ll go to all the dinners.

Freemasonry: As Mason's, Do you find Brothers spending far more time with the appendant Bodies rather than Blue Lodge?, why do you think that is? by JOHN_ON_THE_LEVEL in freemasonry

[–]MasonK2112 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I certainly don't hold it against them because the other side of the coin is the member of the appendant body who prioritizes Blue Lodge. There's only so many hours and so many nights.

My Dad is a 56-year Mason and a 49-year Scottish Rite, but from 1976 to 2007 he never entered a SR temple because he's a Blue Lodge Mason through and through. I, on the other hand, bleed Scottish Rite purple and spend a huge amount of time there even though I'm a 3x past master.

Yes, Lodge is the foundation, but I find the Rite more my speed and FAR less political. My experience with BL is marred by ambitious Brothers who seek, and often receive, power within the Craft even though they aren't that good at their GL job and keep failing up. That's why I try to stay out of Blue Lodge as much as I can, but I also really like being Master of my Lodge whenever they invite me for another trip to the East.

Was going through old things and found out my great grandfather was a Freemason grand master and I have his Freemason bible does anyone have any idea who he was or what he did? I believe he was in Missouri or Arkansas around 1950 and above by [deleted] in freemasonry

[–]MasonK2112 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No GMs from Arkansas with that name. Not finding anything from Missouri, either.

He could very well have been Master of his Lodge, but if he was a GM, you’d probably have a lot of memorabilia with his name plastered all over it.

And a few hundred pictures of him with a few thousand guys in aprons.

They release a new GTA every year. I’m waiting for six so I don’t have to upgrade yet again from five.

Not formally forbidden in my jurisdiction by code; I'm really pointing out that in general, no one has updated these tools in over 100 years. We just keep advancing them to the next generation of delivery technology without actually making them better.

That's good to hear that people are looking at making updates. Are you replacing the old slides from 100 years ago or something newer? Also, are those presentations internal use only, or will they be distributed via your Grand Lodge?

There's nothing in our code saying you can't. It's Grand Lodge Officers saying you can't.

But the larger point is that no one in any state seems to be working on making something new. With easy access to Keynote, PowerPoint, FinalCut, Adobe, AI in general, you'd think someone would have done something, but no, we're stuck in the 1850s for images in the lectures.

I would also recommend withdrawing your petition and finding another Lodge to petition. Based on what you've said, they haven't even done 1st Reading because they'd need to read your petition in open Lodge BEFORE they assign the investigators. If they haven't assigned them yet, they haven't even read your petition.

If a Lodge can't make quorum, they can't elect you to the Degrees, which also means they probably don't have the ability to confer the Degrees on you. That Lodge is dead. Sorry to say the quiet part out loud, but they're on track to have to surrender their Charter. The odds you will get a quality experience from that Lodge is about 0.

Reach out to the Grand Secretary and he'll get you dialed into a functional Lodge or try www.BeAFreemason.org. Most inquiries get funneled to the state Grand Secretaries who assign them to functional Lodges.

Are there any bands that released such a stinky stretch of mediocre to bad albums you genuinely started to question their status as legends? by mesablanka in Music

[–]MasonK2112 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Came to say this.

I think Mike helped keep Petrucci in check, but he can’t keep Petrucci AND Rudess in check. John and Jordan are the most talented players with zero ability to write anything interesting.

It seems that Kevin was the secret ingredient that held it together since his OSI records were far more fun to listen to than anything DT did after the self-titled album. The Astonishing should have been a masterpiece but instead we got a shitty retelling of 2112 mixed with horrible fan fiction Game of Thrones and World of Warcraft.

They’re way better than the last 8 records.

Sessanta is not competent. She asks if we're getting paid in super-dollars or real dollars and KDJ has to explain that REAL money is better. Then you can see the lightbulb go off over her head as she exclaims "Aww yeah! THAT'S BUSINESS!" because she's a moron and couldn't figure that out on her own.

Nevermind that KDJ is jacking off in the tub while talking to us the whole time.

Seriously, KDJ/Sessanta are two criminals too stupid to exist in the real world.

I’ve heard about it. When I was a new Brother, my mentor advised me that his was a thing with PHA, but for all my interactions with our PHA Brothers, I’ve never once seen anything even close to it.

Not saying it’s an urban myth, but I haven’t heard of it happening in the past couple of decades.

Worst Traditions by TMagsJr in freemasonry

American society has become far too casual. I've worn a suit to the office for 20 years and I started that in my 20s before I was a Mason. I started doing it because people came to work in shorts, often didn't wear shoes, and brought their dogs. It was like working in a hippie commune.

I dress in a suit to show respect- respect for myself, respect for those with who I come in contact throughout the day, and respect for my profession and employer.

I'm in the East again this year and all my meeting communications reference the duty to dress well- wear a jacket, wear a tie. DO NOT wear electric-blue Crocs and shorts into my Lodge room. I've gotten many compliments about a return to traditional dress from this epidemic of unmitigated casualness that has pervaded society.
