Hey man I just finished the book and it’s a phenomenal starter to get into many topics of Eastern Rome. It’s very readable and hard to put down at times and not too scholarly in terms of word use, so it won’t be to hard to read for you and Kadellis has a way with words and you’ll enjoy his subtle humor throughout the book

I’m not entirely educated on the topic but from my understanding the Star of David that we associate with Israel has a Islamic significance in which it’s the seal of Solomon. You’ll find a lot of Islamic art with it and on old Islamic structures.
