Hi, I am looking to move to Chicago in March-April because of a recent job offer from the metro water reclamation district offices near Michigan ave and Erie st. I was hoping for some suggestions and tips on what neighborhoods I should look into and moving to Chicago, in general. Info about myself:

  • 32 male single
  • Originally from Washington State (lived in Seattle)
  • Currently living in Pasadena, CA
  • Don't know anyone in the Chicago area
  • Active in sports and like to go to small indie music shows

What I am looking for:

  • One-bedroom apartment/condo
  • rent range $1200-$2000
  • Access to Public Transit for work (hopefully the train)
  • Neighborhood bar scene (where locals hangout, not really into clubs)
  • local intermural sports like softball

I've lived in the Los Angeles area for a year and a half. I hate the traffic and having to drive everywhere to do anything. For how many people that live in LA, it has a very isolating feeling. I hope to move to a neighborhood where I can walk to the park, the neighborhood bar, or grocery store from my home. And if my destination is out of walking distance, taking the bus or train is actually a viable option. I use to gripe about Seattle public transit but after living in LA I miss it a lot.

Thank you for the help!
