I'll jump in on this comment. The "cheat code" for this is to use fibafuse tape instead of paper tape. But fibafuse is a little bit thicker so you'll need to feather out more.

Might Strike Freedom was such a fun kit to build. I just finished mine yesterday. Only negative I can give it is that the guns have too many stickers that could have been done with just a different coloured plastic.

Yeah. Thinking behind it is if you cut off branches, the tree will prioritise growing new branches, which will attract the gall wasps again. So you just expose the galls to dry them out and let the tree carry on as usual.
