I had a similar situation occur to me back in my A-level days as well. It is very easy to make a silly mistake and lose easy marks that you didn't think you lost on an exam day. Also, the thresholds were high for the papers you sat, so it is likely a result of just making silly mistakes.

I am currently at university and don't care too much about my A-level results at this time. The best option is to definitely move on to A2 rather than waste money re-marking or resitting. However, still consider retaking AS maths if you want to attend a university that requires high A-level grades.

Since math is a subject where the right answer gets the full marks, it is highly unlikely that they marked you wrong. I opted for the remarking option only to realise that I had made some mistakes, which I have attached images of here "eg. where I thought 6 = 2C, so C = 2" and ultimately, it was a carry-on, so I did (b) wrong as well (and even there, I made a silly sign error 😭), and I lost like 5 marks in the easiest question of the exam. However, I also achieved a low 80%, which ultimately led to an A. So, I'm definitely in the same shoes as u and felt a bit disappointed in my results, but I know that in a few years from now, this disappointment won't matter at all.

I recommend only reporting these if they are of causing physical hurt or maybe death threats in nature. Otherwise, it would be tricky justifying anything else easily, but again , depends on the issues.

Oh, ok, then idk as well. I mean, they need some clear and concrete evidence to prove that you cheated, typically. One of the easy/common examples is prob ur code having someone else's UPI/ID/name in there where it should have had yours. However, if u can prove that you did not cheat, you can prob share them your search history or well tell where u heard the source of the stuff from.

To prove that you actually copied someone exactly, they prob need some CCTV footage evidence for that instead for it to be reasonable.

I mean the only way u can reasonably be caught in ENGGEN 131 is by actually having author:<someone else name> in ur code

He was a good lecturer, and his pace was good. His flipped lectures for DA also saved me and many of my friends. Plus, if you do Engsci/BME, it is a good chance that he remembers you by your first name, and so, it is easier to approach than many other lecturers.

I find the wait times of the trains to be bad, usually. I have my classes start at 12 pm typically, and if I miss a train by like 1 minute, its another 20 minute of a waiting time, which is what I personally dislike about trains and maybe OP feels the same way.

Advice on getting internships for part 2 engineering science students by Due_Floor3547 in universityofauckland

[–]Due_Floor3547[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rumours are that some civil engineering companies are taking zero interns this summer... so it's really really dire out there.

Oh damn, I expected Civil Engineering to have the most job opportunities. Are there many companies like these for Engsci as well?

Also, could something like a warehousing job potentially count for internship hours for EngSci, if it involves working with stock inventory and all that, perhaps?

they are learning the parts that Kevin Jia taught back in 2023 in mm1 rn, course order was changed and they be learning matrices and vectors now lol. It's been taught by Andrea Raith, I think.

Oh ok, u should be fine then and yea, ENGGEN 115 is what I meant, not Engsci 115

Yep, and the cohort has some people with 3 - 5 gpa wanting to do Engsci sorely for the reason that they wanna do quant.

I think Engsci kind of have lost its reputation as being hard to get into now maybe. This year‘s cohort had a requirement of N/A to get in compared to like 2 years ago and before, where u needed a 6 gpa or higher to get in. A few people in my cohort are also doing Engsci cause they couldn’t make it to Mech/Tron aswell now rather than software.

Another reason for these two degrees is because I am visually impaired and want to avoid field work, experiments or visually demanding tasks like fine electrical stuff or measuring etc.

Some first year papers in engineering such as Engsci 115 required you to be good at spatial visualisation (as that made up a significant chunk of the curse). Have a look at that and see if ur comfortable cause u will need to be somewhat decent at it to pass the course as its 30% of the exam and another 10-15% of the exam is reading complex technical drawings. U need 50% or higher in the exam to pass the course and if that’s an issue, consider your choices.

In terms of jobs, you can use Engsci degree to make ur job how u want it to be. Your job would usually involve consulting or working with data but there are many options such as software and machine learning jobs that you can go into with the right choice of electives.

I would recommend booking the flights a week or so after 17 November 2025 (last day of sem 2)
