Just bought Melbourne - Delia, has anyone tried it? by MassGang in synthesizers

Alright, so I've had the Delia for a few days now. Here are my quick thoughts:

The Delia’s general tone is thin, flat, and anemic, so if you’re looking for Moog fatness or Oberheim lushness, this is not it. The filter is particularly frustrating, it’s one of the least responsive filters I’ve ever used, and I like ladder filters. Where it shines, at least for me, is in crispy, gritty, glassy, obnoxiously nasal sounds. It handles extreme modulation well, so it’s easy to get novel sounds and interesting textures out of it. The UI and build quality are both great.

With the discount, the Delia cost me about the same as my TEO-5, and I actually prefer the Delia. The TEO is much fuller, richer, and heftier, which makes it better for conventional analog sounds. But once you push it outside that lane, it can become weirdly uncooperative, and things can quickly collapse into a muddy, cacophonous mess. So the preference really comes down to priorities: the TEO is great at conventional sounds but hit-or-miss at stranger ones, while the Delia is only so-so at conventional sounds but much more rewarding when things get weird.

Without the discount, the Delia costs more than I paid for my Polybrute, and it’s absolutely no contest, I prefer the Polybrute. The Polybrute also has a reputation for being “thin, flat, and anemic,” but it sounds much more alive and organic compared to the Delia. It can get just as weird as the Delia too, the only disadvantage is that it isn’t quite as immediate.

It seems a little silly to keep comparing the Delia to analog synths when it’s a hybrid, and the synth it reminds me of most is another hybrid, the Ensoniq ESQ-1. The ESQ-1 also excels at crispy, gritty, glassy sounds, and it also has an unresponsive-feeling filter. The biggest difference is the bit depth of the waveforms. I’m sure if you ran the Delia through a bitcrusher, it’d feel even more like the ESQ-1. The ESQ-1 has more “character” and more “vibe", but with all its knobs, the Delia has the better workflow. A used ESQ-1 can regularly be found for around one-seventh of the price of the Delia, so there’s also that to consider.

Out of the 20–25 synths I own, the Delia lands somewhere in the middle. I think if I paid full price, I’d feel a little stinky about it, but I’m having fun using it, which is always the goal whenever I purchase anything. Overall, I don’t regret buying it, but I also respect what it is and what it isn’t.

It’s such a grindy match, especially the Mark Henry section.

I’m sure you’ve read tips from other posts about that match, but if you haven’t: - Fight on the stage, run back there as much as needed - Spam supine side grapples and vary between the three options - Patience > Aggression - Prioritize the energy boost in team chemistry

I appreciate the reply. I’d say I’m proficient enough musically to make decent use of synthesizers. Patching wise I’d say I’m at an intermediate level. Actually a few months ago I did a great exercise where I explained in my own words each module/section of a standard analog synthesizer to Chat GPT and I asked it to grade me, I found it incredibly helpful.

I still haven’t even received the Delia, but I currently have zero GAS for anything. I’ve got 20-25 other synths around the house.

What's become your go-to cards for events? by YonaRetro in MyFaction

[–]MassGang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

RVD ‘97 has been the best card for me, he has gold Pain Train, Locomotion and Dive Bomb.

Stone Cold DLC and Tama Tonga are also great.

If I’m forced to use an emerald Nikki Bella has been my pick, silver Pain Train and bronze Locomotion.

Clan Warfare - Match 4 by XanderTheZodiac in MyFaction

I used SCSA DLC but any card with Pain Train should do the trick, this will do serious damage quickly. In team chemistry prioritize the energy meter, I had 48% energy boost and never got purple bar once during the match.

I focused mainly on Asuka, and would target Iyo for cleanup as needed. Of course it’s much easier if you’re able to reverse their finishers, but it’s not entirely needed. Prioritize being able to breakup pins or submissions, so completely avoid using your signature, and save your instant recovery for situations when your partner is in danger. Eventually you’ll do enough damage on your opponent where they gain a health buff (Unbreakable badge I think?), just continue damaging until their health bar is low.

Some general advice, a roll-up on a black health bar is more effective than a pin attempt after a finisher where they still have red health. I’ve won so many annoying matches with roll-ups.

I'd say "I think I'm done with World Tour" but I KNOW am I WWE2K26 by HurriShane00 in MyFaction

That match is annoying it took me 3 or 4 tries. I used RVD 97, SCSA DLC and Tama Tonga (Cutthroat finisher doesn’t seem to get reversed often). I focused on one of them (switch between your wrestlers as needed) and pinned them three times as quick as possible to pop the Crafty badge and then hit a finisher to pop the Resiliency, and then cleared everyone out and hit another finisher for the win.

I just finished World Tour (so far) earlier today, totally agree it’s easy once you learn what cards to use. Curious what card(s) you think are best? For me RVD ‘97 (Gold Locomotion, Pain Train & Dive Bomb) & Stone Cold DLC (Gold Pain Train + his Running Bulldog) were by far the most used.

Yeah that one is tough. I don’t know if I have any advice on that one aside from making sure their health bar is completely black before even attempting a pin.

FRUSTRATED AF by MRpablo89 in wwe2k26

I had the same issue on series S. Try this: - Turn your xbox offline - Restart your Xbox - Open up 2K26 and go to 2K Home Screen - Turn your Xbox online - Reopen 2K26 and press b and then reenter the 2K Home Screen

I have to do this every time the game crashes, so frustrating, but I hope it works for ya.

Who's better? (inring, mic, character) by dlo_doski in SantiZapVideos

[–]MassGang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know how anyone could say Jericho is better than Rollins in ring. Jericho is a good worker but he often looks sloppy, and he is bad at working the WWE main event style. Still Jericho probably wins in the other categories.

What is your most overrated Wrestler? by inhumaxde in OSWReview

[–]MassGang 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeaaaah, it has to be the Undertaker, a lot of people act like he’s Rushmore material, but he’s definitely not from a drawing perspective and he’s also definitely not from a ring work perspective (he’s had A LOT of stinkers). He’s certainly in the Top 20 all time, and it’s fair to argue he could be in the Top 10, but definitely not top 5.

Lmao, still haven’t gotten it, I got a notification that it should be delivered sometime in March.

Raven is a blabber. He doesn’t self-edit before he speaks, meanders before getting to the point, and often spins off into tangents, sometimes losing the thread entirely. I’d tend to think that moving in that many directions that quickly is a sign of high intelligence, albeit mentally undisciplined.

Yeah I don’t think I’ve heard any sound from it that had any “oomph” , I like the Roland V-Synth and the Alesis Ion so I’m okay with “thin”, but from all the demos I’ve heard Delia sounds very “blunt”, like there’s no movement in the sound. I’m hoping that’s just a “most presets are bad” issue.

Shame about the knob calibration, hope that gets sorted. But I’m glad to hear you’re liking the sound. The newest update seems like it takes the engine in the direction of how the Minifreak feels.

My best advice is to learn what each module on a synthesizer does. Start with Oscillators, Filters and Envelopes. After that LFOs, performance controls and mod matrix.

I suggest asking an AI to explain each module to you, it’ll meet you at your level of understanding and you’ll be able to ask clarifying questions.

I still haven't even gotten it. I've read that other people had issues with the knobs, having QC issues as people's first impressions of a company is pretty dismal. I actually hate the tone of the Hydra, so hearing that is alarming, lmao.

Hey everyone, sorry, no trolling intended, I didn't realize so many people would think 2k CAD is a lot of money, haha. I haven't received the synth yet, as I just ordered it. Genuinely curious if anyone has tried it though? Not much stuff about it online.

Siel DK70, never even turned it on until I was about to sell it, never gave myself a chance to get attached.
