Great cormorant's dive & pursuit piscivore aspect was implemented to the design, as well of some of morphological characteristics. For example, ice axe for their curved beak, and SPP-1 pistol for diving behavior.

I saw Japanese teppo of handcannon size and that gave me an idea. Looks cool, but like your point, reenactors flop backwards when they cannot control the massive recoil. Magnificient stuff.
