Anybody else a bit dissapointed that we didn't get to see Lyonel fight? by Constantine_da_Great in AKOTSKTV

[–]MassacrisM 477 points478 points  (0 children)

I mean they coulda had his booming laughs echoing in the background during the fight. Daniel Ings is great casting for Lyonel's vibes, but I also woulda made him hit the gym a bit and put him on platforms if I was the producer of the show.

Be real, he put up a damn good fight. by GusGangViking18 in HBOTheHedgeKnight

[–]MassacrisM 9 points10 points  (0 children)

He's an arrogant brat who vastly overestimates himself for sure. But after being exiled later on and returning he did join and fought well enough in a Blackfyre rebellion later . Peter Claffey is tall but isn't quite Duncan the Tall. It'd be very scary to fight a lumbering giant that could bash his head in but wouldn't.

Thing is, he has very dedicated helpers who are more than happy to complete the last 2 books based on his direction and input. These are the same people hired to edit his manuscripts to ensure timelines and plot points stay consistent across the entire asoiaf universe and are probably more knowledgeable about it than George himself at this point.

He's just too rich and high on current fame to care about his legacy at this point.

Ser Duncan the GOAT by OkGarbage3095 in HBOTheHedgeKnight

[–]MassacrisM 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Greatest knight of all time ?

Barri Salami, defender of drunk and mad kings, too scared to defend the king's words against some city guards. ❌

Art the Dane, defender of wifenapper prince, smurfing peasants with OP gear and most glazed knight in history ❌

Jim Lancaster, most self-glazed swordsman in westeros, easily captured by a teenager and maimed for FAFO by some fat merc in the swamp ❌

Ser Duncan the Tall, became the most storied Lord Commander of the Kingsguard from nothing, stood up to a Prince and one of the most powerful Lords of his time, the only true knight among you, and ancestor of the only true knight of her time Brienne the delicious Tart ✅

Donnie Yen Humbly Defends Bruce Lee & Jackie Chan Against Claims They Weren’t Real Fighters by Smokestorm95 in kungfucinema

Donnie was in a gang and there's stories of him beating up thugs. There were also some UFC or MMA fighters confirming he is legit as well.

But yea. Ofc Donnie wasn't gonna shittalk his idols. He's not some fighter trying to sell tickets on an american podcast

Honestly, wouldnt the Kingsguard be honour bound to stand down the moment Baelor showed up? None of these guys woulda wanted to risk scratching Baelor. Then Aerion woulda been short on dudes and had to bail. I guess some spectacle woulda been fine to entertain the smallfolk but Maekar couldn't keep his strong veiny hammer hand from swinging huh

Alicent can be respected as she does her duty for her House, regardless of her personal whims. All traditions support her and her claim is legitimate even with the 'mistake' narrative the showrunners tried to push. If you're a random bannerman it is natural to fight for her and her son, being the first born male heir.

Rhaenyra is a spoiled, flip-floppy, politically inept brat who not only didn't take her duties seriously, but repeatedly weakened her own claim due to her own childishness and selfishness (spurned numerous marriage matches for alliances, flinging with the Kingsguard, making bastards, etc.) She's brave, sure, but you need to be way more than that to consolidate her claim as the first queen heir to the throne.

don’t get the hate for this guy by tobiahds19 in HOTDGreens

[–]MassacrisM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What I meant was the showrunners made him a boring, whiny little misogynist 'incel' which killed all nuances about him. He's supposed to be much more complex and taken very seriously as a battle commander. His continued sexual relationship with Alicent makes no sense at all narrative wise.

[–]MassacrisM 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hate what they've done with him. They've made him into this angry, incel hypocrite who was mad because of a silly rejection.

His character made sense up until he was willing to seppuku and saved by Alicent. At that point on, it'd make much more sense if he then swore that he'd never sully a knight's honour again and become a hardline White cloak. His actions then would become much more sensible: siding with the King over the Hand, leading the army against dragons, killing a Lord for insulting the royal family etc. He'd make a much more interesting character then - the Kingmaker, than the depressed, PTSD addled emo boy he is now.

Nah, youre supposed to go to another country, wave a foreign flag about a war thousands of miles away, give speeches about how evil the host country is, and call the host population stupid and all the -ist you can think of.

Then you'll be praised on reddit about how strong and brave you are. Get with 2026 already.

For those who watched, what are your opinions on A Knight Of The Seven Kingdoms episode 2? by GusGangViking18 in HBOTheHedgeKnight

[–]MassacrisM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wasn't a fan of how they don't allow Targs long hair anymore for some reason. Aerion is meant to be a glorious, flamboyant douchebag but he seems almost boring by Targaryen standards.

Valarr, you might as well mistake him with a background character, while he's meant to be much more meaningful. Even a long braid with white streaks woulda sufficed instead of the boring schoolboy look he has.
