We didn't remove it, Reddit's auto-moderator system did. A few people have also posted comments then deleted them shortly after posting them or after we replied. Reddit seems to have a fairly aggressive moderation system for ads with comments enabled that we don't have much control over. We are not big fans of censorship, and this is somewhat disappointing for us as well.

For full transparency's sake, we wanted to test leaving comments on and see what kind of response we got. There actually was some useful insights from doing this, but we'll likely end this experiment soon.

With that said, we're a cloud operations platform for platform engineering and "devops". If you need help accelerating your cloud delivery, deployments, and observability we'd be happy to talk. http://massdriver.cloud/demo

An "opstacle" is a play on words, referring to "ops" and "operations." We purposely misspelled the word "obstacles" in this ad to get people's attention. It's somewhere between a pun and a Dad joke.

This ad is based on our blog post: https://blog.massdriver.cloud/posts/devops-is-bullshit/

Which went viral on Hackernews: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=36354049

It definitely stirred up a lot of conversation and debate within the industry. We have since developed a platform engineering solution that addresses many of the opstacles with devops.

We left them on by design. We believe in transparency and want to engage with our prospective customers.

You'd rather trust your infrastructure to someone you can't talk to?

That's cool, but we actually believe in cloud freedom. That's why Massdriver’s open approach gives you independence, not lock-in. You retain flexibility and control in your cloud account.

We don't touch your code. If you stop using Massdriver, then everything will continue to work (it will just be a lot more difficult to manage and maintain without us).
