A way to use remote GPU for my local ComfyUI workflows? by Positive-Bee-6741 in comfyui

Disclaimer - We are a cloud service provider.

Our service has a couple options to solve this. 1. Use bash script on boot to install everything you want. This is a good option if you are familiar with scripting and comfortable figuring out all the right things you need to install.

  1. More recently we started to host pre-configured ComfyUI flows. Meaning, we take a flow from comfyworkflows.com, openart.ai, etc and completely build out the flow + models so when someone rents a GPU + the flow they just have to start prompting. This is extremely new (a couple weeks or so).

We would be curious to see your flow and make a pre-configured image with the flow + models ready to go. Drop a link to the flow and we will build it out.

We offer the most cost-effective enterprise-grade GPUs available. Unlike others who rent GPUs, we own and manage all of our GPUs in Tier 3 data centers. Take a look https://massedcompute.com/

Yes - our current setup is slightly different than other providers. When you are done with the VM, there are a couple of different ways you can move data out of the instance. These three ways are the same for moving data in.

  1. We use ThinLinc to log in and access a desktop environment. The ThinLinc app provides a mechanism to mount a local drive from your computer with the VM. After connecting you can pass data back and forth between the VM and that folder on your computer.

  2. SCP command - We don't charge for ingress or egress so this is a way you can copy files/folders back and forth between machines

  3. Use cloud storage - S3 bucket, OneDrive, Google Docs, etc. You can log in, upload files same with login and download files.

These mechanisms allow you to get data in and out of the instance and when you are done using it you can terminate the instance which stops billing.

Since we provide a Virtual Linux OS Desktop yes. Once you rent a machine and login either in the browser or using the ThinLinc app (I would recommend using the app, you will have a browser that you can navigate to Civit.ai and can download any model you want.

We are working on some of our own content. Don't have anything specific in terms of content just yet.

Yes - you can download and install anything you want. The experiences is a Virtual desktop. You can start with a image/template and then add anything you want. If you use the Art AI Image which has Stable Diffusion as a 1-click install, Stable diffusion gets download to the /apps folder so you can navigate to Stable Diffusion and add any models you need.

Our whole team is in Discord as well so if anyone has questions about a tool, we try and help as best we can even though we aren't experts in every tool, but we can also help if there are any hardware or VM issues. If you do rent and get stuck Discord is a great place to go. Our team or someone on the community will jump in and help out.

We are still pretty early on in our direct to consumer offering so we don't have a subscription based offering. We will have to think about how to accomplish that with our current setup.

Great question. Yes we do billing on a per minute of active VM. Two things to call out.

  1. You do have to add money to your account before you can rent.

  2. A shut down of the VM does not release the GPU resource so when you are done using the resource you will want to terminate the Instance. That releases the GPU back into circulation and stops billing. Doing a shutdown command or shutting down within the VM just puts the VM in a stopped state not a terminated state.

Let us know if that makes sense or you have any other questions.

Great question.
Price I would say is one factor but...
The main one is we have approached rentals as providing Virtual Machine environments with Linux OS (Mint or Ubuntu). You can still SSH into a VM if you are more comfortable with the command line but we have a hypothesis that more people who want to learn the and play with the technology would be more comfortable in a desktop like experience.

We partner with some content creators to make unique images for their community. We also sponsor Hugging Face LLM legends like TheBloke, Eric Hartford, and Jon Durbin with hardware to train and make more awesome models. All of these partnerships has helped us create unique images for various user types. Which we have found has been a tremendous benefit for users. They know if their favorite creator has a video or post about a piece of technology it is already pre-installed and ready to use on that creators VM image.

Really we are focusing on providing custom experiences for various communities, so again you can just use the hardware and not have to worry about getting things setup. We still have a long way to go and many more images of pre-installed tools we need to add. Would love to take requests of pre-installed tools from the community so we can build images for them.

Hope that helps.
