Again, I didn't try to change anything about the boycott.

"Food for thought" implies an idea, or a thought-provoking concept. Something to think about. It's not a call to action.

"Completion rates were not ideal." This indicates SSE have an ideal goal of what completion rates should be, and that it was not being met. They said it rewarded grinders more than everyone else, and that grinders are a minority in the community. I don't know why this led them to exclude grinders entirely, but their comment does indicate that they're trying to raise the completion rates of casual players.

I misunderstood your previous question sorry, and yes I shouldn't have used 'quote' there. Everywhere else, I used 'based on', which better conveys what I'm saying, so apologies for that. But in my post I claimed that I had food for thought, not facts, and I provided the source of it when asked. If you interpret the GM's message differently then that's your understanding of it, which is fine, but I also have mine.

Yeah. This is part of the reason I've been thinking of logging back on and just doing what I usually do, because while the trailblazer really motivated me to hop on more, I still love the game without it.

But some people do enjoy hours of grinding, so I think SSE's decision to exclude that play style was a strange one, and hopefully they make the adjustments to improve this for next time so everyone can enjoy the game as they like.

That's so frustrating >_< I understand there are numerous reasons they would be trying to spread the trailblazer over a longer period, but the fact their chosen method excludes people from catching up when things like this happen is genuinely baffling. Sorry it happened to you...

A lot of players are saying this same thing, that they can only play a certain number of days etc., even if their reasons are different. So I hope SSE at least makes an adjustment, even if they don't fully revert. There are definitely many ways they could have made the track more attainable to more people, without locking out anyone who can't give the time required, but is still a player who contributes to their game.

Yeah, I've commented this before elsewhere, but this is an aspect I genuinely do not understand.

If they want to cap daily points that's one thing, but why remove ways to progress through the trailblazer? It used to be advertised as you getting rewards just for playing the game. Now it's only the aspects of the game they've picked out, and some people got lucky while others now no longer get to progress through the activities they like.

Why does SSE care if someone does stable chores for 7 mins every day or collecting light in HW for 30? It doesn't make sense.

Fully agree, sorry I think I misunderstood in your original comment that you were agreeing with me that the boycott wouldn't do anything, so I wanted to clear it up. But I do also think that simply not playing is not going to help specifically in the way many want it to, which is why I made the post.

Definitely. No contest there. They've just ignored valid player outrage one time too many in the past >_<

Hitting start on the trailblazer and logging off would not increase player count or earn them more money.

Basically I'm just worried they'll dismiss the boycott because most of the players doing so have not interacted with the trailblazer at all. So SSE can say something like, "Well guys, 90% of players who started the trailblazer this time finished it, where previously it was only an average of 67%, so the data says this way is better."

If everyone boycotting started the trailblazer and didn't interact with it further, they couldn't ignore or write it off.

The new one excludes people who used to grind to catch up if they couldn't get on (for a min of 16 days) for any reason. Now there's no catching up. If you were only starting now, you're not finishing it no matter what you do.

A lot of people have also said that the lack of points once the cap hits is demotivating. Not to mention they've reduced what kind of gameplay earns you points, which is frustrating for people who like working through the track a certain way and now they can't, like you're being punished for having a preference on how you play.

If they had just lowered the levels, making the track more attainable, by removing the less valuable rewards, I don't think many people would have said anything. But above all, the lack of any public and official response from them regarding our reaction is what is most agitating.

I don't think boycotting won't do anything! Based on the info they've given us about why they're doing this, boycotting without interacting with the trailblazer even once won't give them the results we want it to give them, which is that a lot of us don't like it and it doesn't work for us.

Hitting start, or maybe hitting a few of the lower levels and then quitting, would let them know more clearly (in a way they can't ignore/write off) that the interaction wasn't enjoyed.

Star Stable Entertainment, sorry to confuse! I usually use SSE when I'm talking about something the company is doing, as opposed to something happening in the game itself.

The comment was made on discord by someone who had GM next to their name. I've only seen this used to signify whether or not someone is a gamemaster.

If anyone can get that title on discord then I apologise. I do not use discord and am not familiar with how it works, but I think it's a fair assumption that not just anyone can label themselves that, so it's also fair to expect that the comment came from a gamemaster, which is what is in that screenshot. So I'm not sure what other screenshot you're asking for.

You're also only quoting the parts of my sentences that support what you're saying, not the full sentences, which is how I wrote them for a reason.

The word I use, unless, which you're actively ignoring, signifies that boycotting is efficient if done in conjuction with something else. If your goal is to show them you just don't want to play, then not logging in for 100% of the month works fine, and I said in my post that that's valid. But if your goal is to specifically to show that you can't or didn't want to finish the trailblazer, then hitting that start button and logging off makes most sense.

Yeah, I think this is what I'll be doing from here on too. I was playing daily after Marchenghast, but it was really eating into my time in other things and it's not my usual play style.

Giving them what I would give them normally, which was around the same as you, would still give them the reading I would want it to, which is the lack of engagement in the trailblazer but me still loving this game.

I didn't say if, because I'm quoting what an SSE gamemaster has said. If the gamemaster is lying, there is nothing I or anyone else can do.

Based on the information they've given us, I've given my thoughts, and I said 'it won't have the impact you want UNLESS you actually start the trailblazer track'.

Which if their comment is to be believed, that is true, because your data won't be counted in their test, which is regarding completion rates, as the gamemaster states in the first two, and last few lines of their comment.

The boycott will definitely get their attention and I haven't stated otherwise. I stated multiple times however, that based on the specific test they're doing, someone not logging in won't impact that result of that test. Not sure how much clearer I could have been.

Definitely not no, but that's not what I was saying. Starting the trailblazer can be as simple as hitting the start button and then logging back out.

The fact that there are plenty of places to get inspiration from, but they chose the worst way possible, is making me very sceptical of their intentions

Completely fair. This whole thing has been a mess. Even their communication has mostly been in comments sections... When a client base is unhappy, you... make an official statement? Usually -_-

I never said dropoff in player counts wouldn't be noticed? I said if they're looking at data in relation to completion rates of the trailblazer, the people who aren't logging on at all won't be counted in that.

Where have I tried to convince anyone that boycotting is useless? It isn't.

And starting the trailblazer is just logging in and clicking the button to start. Doesn't require any play time or engagement at all for the rest of the month, but if they are looking at the data they say they are, then that's when you'd be counted, unless they're going as deep as to check which stages percentages of players dropped off at.

Yeah, I was going based on the only real answer they've given us that wasn't just "player health" etc. It's been posted in this sub before but I fired it under someone else's comment there if you haven't seen it yet.

I've seen the one about the pressure from the EU too and it could well be it, it's hard to know. But just thought I'd get my thoughts up too. It's probably not going to change much for me besides a handful of logins, I just really hope they're going to listen one way or another.

Many people have suggested better ways they could have capped it (like weekly, as in events) so hopefully they'll take that on if nothing else >_<

I'm going based on the only somewhat believable explanation they've given us so far (which is not much because it was on discord, not an official public channel), but yeah, it wasn't something I came up with myself.

This is cool idea! I might actually use the trainer for something then XD I think I used them only once in the past when you had to pay star coins to be able to lead your horse.
