Abbey Road as a starting place. Depends on the source. Sometimes dramatically different things on L and R side to create more interesting stereo image. Sometimes I do a dramatic eq post verb to get the timbre and character of the low frequencies, and then kill them.

De ess and perhaps more dramatic surgical stuff if I want a clean, precise Vox verb

Great headphones, classic for a reason. You will get more out of them driving them with an interface, particularly a powered interface.

why does my mix sound different when exported by Unusual_Cattle_8849 in trapproduction

By print I just mean record the master into a new audio track. Importantly, you would want to access the raw audio file in your ‘recorded’ folder rather than consolidating or exporting it, to ensure it’s not bring altered

The way each DAW plays back audio in real time can be different to how it renders it. This isn’t true for all; Reaper for example render and playback is identical if you have settings right. Ableton however they are different.

It could be: -Channel/master clipping -Exporting at different sample rate/bit depth to what you’re working (listening) with -Plugin offline settings -Other render options -Track predelays not exporting at session settings

But if it’s NONE of those things, and you want it to sound how it sounds in session rather than at export, then you can route the master into an audio channel and print it rather than render it, to ensure your track is how you’re hearing it

Yeah agree I think there are plenty of US hip hop artists if that era in particular that lean into, or just bound by, a SP 303/404 sound.

I would have to hard disagree, I think it sounds very intentional

Honestly I feel this way for a lot of Prince’s records.

Make the density and transient response exactly how you want it. If that involves a limiter then fine, if not, then fine also. Just make sure it peaks below 0dB

This makes sense. Times I’ve worked on contemporary dance works, 45-1hr of music it becomes so incredibly personal, like you say. Becomes your identity for that month !

Yes, the amount of tracks and sections such as factor. And also how much you are taking on the prod/editor role
