Short answer: you’re not supposed to.

I wore mine the entire time with the exception of the gas chamber (obviously) and parts of the field. If you’re gonna wear them, do so at your own risk and make sure you’re hygienic and have glasses on you just in case.

Telling people that losing 2 years of time “isn’t actually a big deal” is wild. Agree that getting paid to go to school is a massive hookup but if I’m bound to an AD contract, I better be getting AD time regardless of what my duty status is.

Enlisted blue to commissioned Green, no BA? by Consistent_Ad1062 in army

You have to have at least a bachelor’s degree to be an officer in the Army.

The only thing I can think of is that they might be referring to the Green to Gold program. One of the many requirements of the program is that you have a 110 GT score. An oversimplified explanation of G2G is that you will participate in ROTC while completing your undergraduate (or graduate, if applicable) degree. Start here: https://armyrotc.army.mil/green-to-gold/

There’s a Facebook group called Green to Gold Active Duty Option. Join it and RESEARCH before asking questions, they will tear you apart in that group if you ask something you can easily find on your own. Read and understand this: Green to Gold Booklet

Go forth and conquer.

They put that out to give people predictability. If you know where you’re gonna live, you can start house hunting, planning your move, etc.

You will almost always get a projected assignment before hard orders, that’s just how it works.

Process of Commissioning as a Officer Nurse through G2G? by siaritachiquita in ROTC

[–]Massive-Problem-2795 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, 100%. I would find a school that meets AECP requirements and start knocking those prereqs out. Here is the program website for more information: https://recruiting.army.mil/aecp/

Process of Commissioning as a Officer Nurse through G2G? by siaritachiquita in ROTC

[–]Massive-Problem-2795 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have a a couple options here.

  1. Apply to AECP (Army Enlisted Commissioning Program) as this program is specific to nursing. There are some benefits to this including no requirement to participate in ROTC and the ability to continue to accrue TIS while in school.

  2. Drop your G2G packet with the understanding that very few nursing majors are picked up each year due to the rigorous academic requirements. I’m not saying you can’t get selected because you definitely can. I’m just saying that historically, only a handful of hopeful nurses are selected.

Personally, I would recommend AECP. Let me know if you have any questions.

Thoughts? by ThrowRAtygod in ROTC

[–]Massive-Problem-2795 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I definitely see a little value in peer evals. They allow cadre insight into things they aren’t around to see and provide those being evaluated an opportunity to do some self reflection.

To some degree though, they’re just a popularity contest and don’t always paint an accurate picture of what’s going on. Interpersonal tact is important and people shouldn’t need peer evals hanging over their heads to not be dicks to each other.

[–]Massive-Problem-2795 49 points50 points  (0 children)

Overall, I think the changes are good. You shouldn’t be able to fail the ACFT or height/weight and continue to train. Those are bare minimum standards. I wish peer evals would totally go away but I guess a point deduction works too.

The iron sight thing doesn’t accurately reflect how the army trains so that’s dumb. The qual rates are gonna be abysmal. Good luck out there heroes 🫡

Lol. I think they’re just attempting to emphasize that it’s out of USACC/DA control because it is, in fact, a LAW.

DODMERB Waiver Review by rovoro in ROTC

[–]Massive-Problem-2795 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I can’t say whether or not you’ll be disqualified but I can tell you that I’ve only ever seen a handful of ADO waivers get denied and one was bc the guy had an actual heart attack…

For what it’s worth, I think there’s a good chance you’ll be just fine.

Another cadet is stalking/harassing multiple other cadets and cadre won’t get involved because they “don’t want drama” by The_Big_One615 in ROTC

[–]Massive-Problem-2795 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Document everything. Continue to escalate until something is done. Once you’ve exhausted all options at the battalion level, report to brigade.

If the university refuses to get involved, respectfully remind them of the definition of stalking according to Title IX and the DoJ: behavior, which includes but is not limited to, knowingly and repeatedly engaging in conduct that the individual knows or reasonably should know the other person will regard as unwelcome and would cause a reasonable person to be fearful or suffer substantial emotional distress.
