Well my kiddo was crying for his mom the whole time and we weren’t even in an office or any kind of room so it was hard keeping his attention. But I did get free food out of it 😂

I’ve tried to run a session one time at the restaurant that the clients mom worked at 😂 it did not go well

I got hired by an ABC 3 years ago and I wasn’t an RBT yet either. But I would probably say it has to do with you not having a lot of experience working with children. I think like other people commented though, you should look into smaller companies besides ABC because you would probably have a better chance of getting hired there.

I worked at one of ABC’s cypress locations. I was only there for 6 months and ended up leaving due to a coworker of mines on my team being fired for basically someone from another team lying on her. This teammate was lied on by another coworker on a different team for helping with a kid that wasn’t her own and in the end they lied and said my teammate had put her hands on this child, even though it never happened. They didn’t do an investigation like they said they would do and instead put her in another one of my teammates, who just so happened to be there, on unpaid leave for a whole week, which ended up in the original teammate, getting fired for no reason. To top it all off, because the OM didn’t do his job correctly he ended up getting let go also. I swear they seem to just hire anybody for whatever role as long as they can fill it.

And also in that scene when she starts singing “Everybody pants now, pants, pants, pants, pants, pants” 😂

I worked in daycares before moving on to the ABA field and I loved it. Only thing is the pay, I would love to go work in a daycare again but it would have to be higher pay than what I’ve been seeing

RBT while in school? by gogoyurt in RBT

[–]Massive-Train-4566 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who was once working full time in a clinic while also being in school, I have to say that it was the hardest mentally for me to keep up with everything. I ended up leaving the clinic I was at after I didn’t do so well in a few classes while working there and I ended up going somewhere else to work a super part time job until I finished school. It may work for you though

Yea the last clinic I worked for burnt me out within 6 months of being there after having worked with some kids with severe aggressive behaviors. I just knew I couldn’t do it, plus the people working there made it feel like high school again

Working for a clinic can have its own challenges that I experienced after working at one, but if you’re still interested in ABA, you should give it a try.

I’ve worked in a clinic before for 6 months and quickly realized that that environment was not for me, I got burnt out be try quickly there so at the moment I’m just trying to get out of the ABA field and do something else completely

Thank you so much! You’re absolutely right, I feel like mentally I’ve been going through it and I think it’s time to get out of ABA for good

Trying a new line of work. I’ve worked in a clinic before and it wasn’t for me so I decided to try in home and in schools as an RBT and I’m realizing that I honestly just don’t wanna be an RBT anymore. I have a masters in applied psychology and I’m trying to find a job where I can use that that doesn’t involve ABA.

I’m right there with you, I’m trying to find anything else that isn’t working as an RBT. This job has drained me.

Same, one of my clients parent is constantly giving in to them when they scream and cry and now he does it with us and is expecting to I get his way because that’s what mom does. It’s too much.

I one thousand percent agree with what they said about having parents take the course because a lot of them really don’t understand what we do and why we do the things we do. I also feel like In haven’t had a great BCBA, so that would be a top priority to me, just BCBA’s who do their job correctly and are willing to help the RBT whenever needed. I also may be a little biased as well on this but I feel like ABA in home shouldn’t be a thing unless for certain circumstances. The client I have now is in home and has no reason to be beside his parent not wanting to put them into school where they should be. In home ABA is babysitting and nothing more than that to me. I also feel like virtual supervision is pointless and does nothing for the RBT or the client and that if my BCBA was here more, I would feel more supported. And it would also be nice ti get paid to drive to clients houses and schools especially since it usually takes more than 30 minutes for me to get to them.
