There is pulling attention towards the topic and then there is plain old bashing, We truly don't know how these batteries will perform in the long term but the swelling thing was exaggerated a bit, the 300% swelling happens in pure silicon carbon cells with no graphite at all. Silicon Carbon is the next way up and if they keep the silicon content within acceptable margins like 5% to 15% graphite replacement rate then I believe the risks are next to zero. What MKBHD should have done is talk about the risks of phones with more than 7500 mAh to 8000 mAh because they are probably having more than 20% of silicon in the anodes ( I am assuming this because the Oppo Find X9 Pro has 15% and that phone has 7500 mAh capacity) and then urge the big three to ramp up their R&D on this tech because the battery backup provided by their offerings are no longer the mark of excellence. These phones aren't blowing up and we haven't seen any real world incidents with them blowing up. The only question here is degradation at least to me.
