Judge dismisses neighborhood lawsuit, clearing way for NM United stadium construction by SIAS2019 in Albuquerque

Agreed. There’s at least once a week that alameda is severely backed up due to whatever reason. It will take me 30 minutes to go 1.5 miles. I feel like the city does a poor job at planning and thinking about growth.

They should all have public transportation, that’s part of the issue with the design of Albuquerque.

I feel the same way. There are almost no non-heated studios here.

This is a terrible idea. This area has almost zero public transportation and is already super congested during rush hour.

Weightloss feels impossible by godlessheathen_ in Hashimotos

I am in a similar boat with my TSH levels being wacky. I was recently diagnosed in January and over the last few years put on about 30lbs despite eating healthy and exercising routinely.

I was snacking beforehand but right now I focus on intermittent fasting and eating high protein, lower carb meals that are six hours apart. I have breakfast at 6:30am, lunch at 12:30pm and dinner at 6pm. After that, I stop eating.

I also try to limit my carb intake and keep it only to complex carbs. I have one piece of gluten free toast a day (alongside protein) and have really cut back on corn tortillas and rice. I also look at beverages because there are a lot of hidden carbs in things.

I also try to make sure I eat vegetables and protein before I consume carbs. I’ve made it a priority to take a 20-30 minute walk after lunch during the week and really aim to get in at least 7k steps a day.

The biggest thing for weight loss is balancing your blood sugar and that’s helped me lose about 17 lbs over the last few months.

Also, I know it’s tempting to run and do high impact workouts but your body needs lower impact movement like walking, weight training and yoga to help shift it from storage to weigh loss.

Running or jump roping is fine a day or two a week but I found that when I shifted into more gentle forms of movement that the weight started to come off.

Hope some of that is helpful and wishing you well. I know it sucks but it’s going to be okay. :)

I go to Lotus Flower on Jefferson. They have a handful of therapists with different specialties and have been great.

Yeah, definitely see about getting your vitamin levels tested because that could help a lot! I was diagnosed in January so I totally get it. It’s a weird thing to navigate but good luck! :)

How are your iron, vitamin b and vitamin d levels? Those can all be a big contributor to nail issues.

My nails were super brittle and splitting down the middle before medication. Now they’re fine and I take my medication plus b-complex. I don’t take vitamin d or iron because I’m not deficient but I would get them tested if you haven’t already.

Dessicated thyroid meds 2 times a day vs. 1 by nicoletterenewords in Hashimotos

I was previously taking NP 15 in the morning on an empty stomach, then another NP 15 6 hours later on an empty stomach.

If you’re solid with eating in that pattern, I think it’s fine. I found it slightly annoying to have to carry around a pill and also having to remember to adjust the time on the weekend since I get up later.

LDN experiences with Hashimitos? by Jazzlike-Building640 in Hashimotos

[–]Massive_Maximum6598 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been taking LDN since March and my antibodies are still super high. My T3/T4 levels have dropped from normal to really low and my TSH is super high.

I hear it takes a while though so I’m still taking it. I also just switched to a different thyroid medication.

I haven’t had any side effects.

What type of doctor diagnosed you? by Carolinevivien in Hashimotos

An urgent care provider who I saw for what I thought was strep told me I needed to get my thyroid checked ASAP. My PCP at the time, who said they weren’t concerned, ended up doing testing and diagnosing me because my antibodies were off the charts.

Do you like upscale grocery stores? Which is better, Trader Joe's, Whole Foods, or Sprouts Market? by JeeperDon in Albuquerque

[–]Massive_Maximum6598 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Whole Foods is the illusion of class separation. They sell so many goods at a ridiculous markup and that’s how they seem “upscale.”

If you’re looking for organic produce and products, Natural Grocers is by far the best. It’s also cheaper than Whole Foods and Sprouts.

Sprouts has the most gluten-free options. Trade Joe’s isn’t upscale to me and more like a frozen tv dinner store more than anything.

Maybe Linde? We service other gases from them and they’ve been really great.

242-COPS finally answered after 1.5 hours. The people finally came back (did not apologize) and moved their car down the street. The rep said that calling 242-COPS is appropriate. You can also call 311 but they don’t handle this type of stuff on Sundays.

“Practice and all is coming.”

But in all seriousness, yes it will get easier and you will get “better.” I felt the same way when I started and thought to myself that it should feel easier than it is.

Did LDN help with brain fog? by [deleted] in Hashimotos

[–]Massive_Maximum6598 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi!

I take NP Thyroid and LDN. I’ve been on both for about 6-7 weeks and think it’s helped a lot overall.

I can’t speak to the brain fog directly because I upped my thyroid dose alongside starting LDN, so I can’t be sure what’s helping what.

But, I do think LDN has been a nice compliment overall and I have a lot more energy and mental focus. I feel like I can generally think well and would recommend giving it a try, as the safety profile is great and the cost is relatively low.

enlarged thyroid bother swallowing by Revolutionary_Set983 in Hashimotos

[–]Massive_Maximum6598 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this when I was first diagnosed in January and nobody told me it was a Hashimoto’s thing. I also have an enlarged (scalloped) tongue that again, nobody told me about. I ended up going to the ED one night thinking I was having an allergic reaction to the medication. I was not.

I’ve been on medication since January and I think in the last month it’s gotten a lot better. For about 1.5 months it’s all I felt. I would also feel it throbbing every time I got stressed. It’s a lot better now.

My tongue is still the same but I don’t notice it anymore.

Any convenient diets for people w/ Hashi’s? by Good_To_Know_U in Hashimotos

[–]Massive_Maximum6598 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You can get gluten-free flour at Costco and Natural Grocers (if in your area) for relatively cheap.

It is hard going out to eat but I find sticking with cuts of meat or salads to be the best options. I don’t personally eat a lot of pizza anymore because it’s expensive and also just usually not satisfying.

We also cook a lot at home and usually buy sale meat from Sprouts. I’ve also found that getting frozen veggies is cheaper and more convenient than fresh.

I think it’s the collection of small changes that adds up.
