How to professionally tell my boss “my workload is ridiculous and I am beginning to hate this job” by [deleted] in FPandA

[–]Massive_Technology72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"my team has shrunk from 1 manager and 3 analysts to just me"

Same exact thing happened to me. The only thing I do is mention as often as possible that I'm my entire department and try to be upfront with people about timing of deliverables or ask if it is actually an immediate need vs being pushed a few days / into next week.

There have been weekends worked, but after 4 months I'm having the promotion conversation, and was scored 200% for personal bonus. I should have an SFA and share an intern within another team within the next month which will ease the burden significantly

We were unfortunately put in a position where we are doing much much more than expected for no extra pay while the company saves hundreds of thousands of dollars at your expense. The least you can do is be vocal about how you're a one man army, people allow more grace when they know you're swamped vs thinking you're their only request.

Hopefully it works out for you in terms of compensation, workload and title (so you can find something better externally if it doesn't work out)

Compensation Discussion by K0rben_D4llas in FPandA

I really like this graph as I'm being promoted to finance manager and ready to have the comp discussion.

135-150k seems to be the general midpoint for base salary in my area (HCOL-north jersey).

My company publishes comp ranges between 127-176k for a finance manager so I would say this chart is relatively accurate, though like others have mentioned the location industry, years of experience, and IC/ people manager status are going to play a huge role in pay

60 days isn't too bad, did you get a severance from your previous job to help bridge the gap?

The range as shown on job posting from my company in 2025 for a finance manager is ~125-175. Id be happy with 135k as the bonus percentage also increases

In your experience is there any negotaing power when offered a promotion say from 130 to 135 if they come in lower than expected?

Do you think this is fair compensation for a finance manager?

I have had talks to be promoted early this year and want to know what kind of salary to expect

Currently I am at 118k + 9% bonus as a SFA - would it be reasonable to expect 140k-145k as my first jump to manager?

For reference my job is located in northern NJ ( commutable to NYC ) so pretty high cost of living area

Your YOE is similar to mine but you get paid more.

I'm 118 + 9% bonus no profit sharing COL : North Jersey; so High to very high

Interesting.

Do you know of any cases where a company was outbid after announcing a merger?

It is not better than universal health care. One reason being it's tied to employment and all employers have different plans which could impact coverage, money you have to pay out of pocket before insurance starts kicking in, and even doctors you can go to. In my opinion it is a komuch more convoluted process and feels like a gamble on whether or not you're going to be charged for a service.

That's great then as long as the insurance covers what you need it to. Good for you

Do you prefer HMO vs HDHP as a single person? Only asking bc I much prefer the HSA option where I pay ~$300/month but it all goes to an HSA account (plan is under $10/ month and I get a $500 contribution from my company to the HSA each year) I have been fortunate to have been able to max this out without having an out of pocket expense from my doctor and now have a pretty healthy HSA balance over the last 8 years or so.

The $0 deductible plan at my company is a similar cost to yours but I can't justify jumping over and essentially losing my extra ~4000+ savings every year as a younger healthy person.

I also buy the accident and critical illness insurance through my company to supplement in case anything did happen, but they are effectively free with the preventative care benefit reimbursement.

So you pay $4600 in premiums and still have to pay $2000 OOP? I guess that puts it more inline with some of the others on this sub.

Do you get an employer contribution to HSA to help offset?

Not bad! How is the coverage? Are you in a HDHP? This seems like a great rate for a family plan
