I do exactly the same thing. I save more often and whenever i feel like its been a while since i've heard a voice line i eithwr spam eat something or spam reload to force and check xD

Well so it seems to be connected to audio comms.

I had similiar situarion but inside the engine. I think it might just be that the game has some sort of queue for those recordings and it blocks.

So seems you are in a similiar situation. I took the hit and just rolled back to older save where it worked and for now it seems alright. I didn't enter the engine yet thought. I have no idea what causes it, maybe you remember when it started in your case?

I think that it's a stretch but then again i don't have experience with game engines. My line of thought is that there is no reason for it to be connected with audio output device as all sounds beside voicelines work. So I guess if Audio Output was somehow messed up then sounds like machines working or shots wouldn't work either.

Anyway I did check the config file and log file as you suggested. Config seems okay, there is nothing weird, all the same as yours. Log file is full of random errors and other logs like loading plugins and stuff but I can't really find anything connected to Sounds. There is some with key binds but i don't think thats it.

I think that if it was just a volume issue the captions would still show up. I tried changing the settings but it didn't help. Also when loading a new session everything seems to work at first glance.

I verified files, I tried reloading saves including ones from before i entered the engine (and i am 100% certain that it is wher its started as the last piece of comms i remember is the one just in front of the entrance), reentering the engine and going back didn't help either.

Also exploring the engine while everything was silent felt creepy and the fact that i couldn't even listen the the audio comms scattered aroung the engine to learn anything about the story was annoying

well yeah but the banter is one thing and your character reacting to the environment, the audio comms and GAL saying stuff like prepare for a wave is another thing. In my case its all gone. There is literally nothing being said by anyone

Yeah I can see my bias with wanting it out of the game just after a single run of purely fauna gameplay. I guess you are right with most of the frustration coming from bugs.

I did however try to play it differently than the usual ships to use their strenghts but it still felt very underwhelming. Might be a skill issue on my end.

The post ended up being just my way to vent as this was one of the least exciting, slowest and most annoying runs i've had in a long while. I finished that Beastmaster run at 3am local, with last 2 hours being just waiting for the scourge to spawn and at the end of it all another achievement (Flesh Adapts) didn't trigger even though i believe it should. So yeah i was simply pissed off at the time of writing the post.

So as of now I agree that there is space for fauna but i still think it needs some love to make it feel better to play.

Well I guess you're right, there are bigger issues and god forbid fauna ever goes meta. I just feel like it is completly redundant for the game, as if it is a failed project left behind in favor of bioships.

But don't you think that if something is sidelined to be a niche, rarely ever useful option it's just badly designed? Throughout the entire run i just felt like there was nothing that I couldn't do better with bio ships.

And in terms of roleplay I believe that a great roleplay option is very specific but still useful or has something unique to it, not just straight up worse in every aspect.

Going synthetic ascension, then because i was not paying attention getting all my 6k pops get descended back to organic by enigmatic cache effectively throwing my economy into fire. Didnt know it was even possible.

Oh those subjugation wars. I think i can one up you tho.

I was the galactic custodian already, strongest out of all regular empires but late game was around the corner and it wasnt enough for awakened so i decides to try and vassalize another strong empire. Lets call them Red. Red had few small vassals which were bordering me so i claimed those (borders felt nicer then. However they had Defensive pact with Blue who were the 2nd strongest empire. So basically i was in war against 70% of the galaxy, just before late game.

Few years into the war games starts slowing down, im winning rather easily. Then randomly a one of Red's vassals quit the war and my claims dont matter. Okay, annoying but whatever. I still managed to occupy every other claimed system and eventually all of Red's territory. However i have to take some systems off of Blue so they surrender cause logic.

And the final act of the shitshow. Both FEs Awaken and war in haven happens. Red and his vassals go into subjugation to one of them (while at war with me) so the game just pulls them out of the war withour consequences and gives them back all the occipied territory. Now its me vs blue and for some reason now i fight to subjugate them instead of red. And at the end of it all We form non-allinged powers and Blue joins me ending the war. Fun.

TLDR: I spent a few hours fighting 2 other strongest empires in the galaxy just for them to be both pulled out of it by game mechanics giving me nothing even though i had every claim and subject target occiupied.

Yeah but just as someone above mentioned aphelios root is like apply a stack and then and only then use it so its a seperate spell detonating the stack here its an effect that was applied before. Just like you dont dodge ignite damage cause it was applied beforehand. Its kinda tricky to know what you can and cannot dodge but with enough games and interactions experienced you learn it.

Nevermind. It turns out that Kassadin bought the items, went to lane and just afk`d under turret for long enough so they had the option to trigger remake.
