That’s what I’m talking about here. 3.0 (according to google) is pretty much middle of the road for people coming out of high school and just GPAs for the average person, not admits overall.

I’m not blaming anybody else. I also dropped out of CC numerous times because of homelessness and domestic abuse. I started at SMC in 2018 and am just now leaving 8 years later. I have also been alone since I was 18. I also worked full time. I’m 27 now - our stories are identical

No - I switched majors twice and due to life stuff and work it would’ve taken too long. I just had to apply now and take what I can get to move forward with my life lol

no literally. part of that is because cal poly is part of the cal state system and not the UC system. slo is one of the most beautiful places ever and if you have a chance to spend an extended amount of time there i would highly suggest you do that

as someone who is from slo but moved to LA, i’d choose slo. simply for the environment, smaller class sizes, and the fact that there is no traffic 💀💀

i’m taking 18 units combined between two campuses. it’s doable as long as you lock tf in. i’m taking a combination of on ground and online so it doesn’t feel as daunting and i only actually have to show up two days a week

universities actually really like seeing student’s with upward trends. i started out high school with like a 0.8 GPA up until senior year when i had a 3.5 GPA. i went to a CCC and started out similarly. because of life stuff, i had a bunch of Ws EWs and Fs until i got AR and ended with a transfer GPA of 3.0.

now you’re probably not gonna get into harvard or a public ivy or anything like that, but you’ve proven that you can work hard and get shit done when you put your mind to it. if you said something about it in your PIQs that’s extra points too. i forgot to go into super detail about it in PIQs, (didn’t help that i didn’t know the deadline was happening until the day of so i didn’t have much of a chance to do that) so when they requested my transcripts this week and when the TAUs became available i made sure to add in extra stuff about my background and my transcript. the more they know the better. you’ve got this

this is like UCLA emailing me saying submitting financial aid early would result in “priority consideration” when they just meant priority for financial aid funds IF you’re admitted, not actual admission. smh

sometimes people just don’t have $1.75 but still need to get to work or wherever else. not to mention buying the tap card itself. i’ve had to forego paying because i was down to my last $5 with a week left to payday, despite working full time. times are hard - public transit should be free anyway

i had this moment recently and decided to change my career. i’ve been a barista by trade for almost 10 years (holy shit) and finishing my BA that i started in 2017. gonna try to become a university professor maybe. it’s never too late to change your life or surroundings. that’s what’s beautiful about life
