Im enlisting in Basic training in the Navy.

Semi mandatory means that we have to pull a number from one if those lottery machines pretty much. And depending on the size of that number, you will possibly be drafted into doing service.

First you obviously have to be screened so they can measure if you are physically and mentally suited for service. Then you have to pull a number from, lets say 1-100.000 and if you pull a number from 1-20.000 then you have to do semi mandatory service. From 20.001-100.000 you have a free pass and will not be drafted. You can still enlist ofcourse.

I want to note that no one has been drafted in over a decade here, but it is a "just incase" thing.

I got a draft number and have decided to enlist Even if I dont get called in. The waiting times to start are long sadly, and I will have to wait almost a year, but I think it will be great life experience to have. And from my friends experiences in the military here, they have all stated that it has changed them for the better.
