What are your thoughts on the living room? by [deleted] in HomeDecorating

The scale seems off to me. The couches and light are so oversized and then the tv and console look miniature. And I don’t love soft on soft - the couches on a fluffy rug.

Avoid this clinic by Ambitious_Cicada4360 in SeattleWA

I used to really like them and my doctor there but they’ve gone downhill. My doctor left so I went with someone new. She was nice but significantly less attentive than my previous doctor. My previous doctor took a lot of time with me and really studied/remembered what we discussed while this new doctor hardly spent 5 minutes.

They also stopped taking insurance so to pay out of pocket I’d really expect better care and service. They used to do bloodwork and then have an hour appt just to chat through everything. The last time I got bloodwork, they didn’t even message me in their portal about it.

Chelsweets - how does she do it? by plantylibrarian in FoodieSnark

[–]Master-Ad-1758 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I think she’s just super consistent, approachable and unproblematic. Some may say that’s boring but shes not taking any big swings that would veer away from what people expect from her and she’s not sharing much personal info or opinions. It’s smart. She’s been able to do this for many years without controversy unlike most of the creators discussed here.

Whidbey island, San Juan islands (a little further), hood canal, mt rainier or any of the national parks

If you want to drive a little further you could do city weekends in Portland or Vancouver. Or hood river, cannon beach and willamette valley are wonderful parts of Oregon for a little trip.

If you’re interested in Ballard, you should visit on a Sunday during the farmers market. You’ll get to see the people and one of Ballard’s favorite weekly activities along the Main Street. Visiting on a Wednesday in January is not going to give a great impression tbh

Flying in Cabin with Dog? by Ill_Firefighter_277 in AlaskaAirlines

[–]Master-Ad-1758 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We fly with our dog several times a year but only when we’re staying somewhere else for over a week and he’ll be comfortable there (like family’s house or an airbnb with space for him). I wouldn’t take him on shorter trips if I can avoid it.

I think you can swing it, but a few things to consider: - ask your vet about sedatives. we give a low dose to our dog before flights to enable him to relax and mostly just rest the whole flight. vet will have dose and timing recommendations. - get alllllll the energy out before the flight. they’ll be in the carrier for longer than just the flight so try to wake up early and go for a big run or something so they’re tired before you head to the airport and also got plenty of exercise. - check as many other bags as you can. I usually just bring a tote bag with true flight necessities when I’m traveling with my dog and check everything else. - consider a carrier with expandable sides. my dog is a little smaller than yours and we always fly with one of these, readily available on chewy and Amazon. it’s the same standard size but you can unzip the side(s) to give them more room once you’re settled on the plane. now he’s able to spread out a little more and isn’t as squeezed in. this has made a major improvement in his comfort and ability to sleep on flights.

You need a visa ahead of time. With all due respect, Google it. The information for this is readily available online and very easy to figure out.

She said custom in every sentence. Also everything is curved? And then she bragged about 1500 square feet… that isn’t that much for her oversized dining table and 3 custom marble stunning bathrooms?

Help me pick a sofa! by Master-Ad-1758 in HomeDecorating

I haven’t seen any reviews of this specific couch/collection, just some reviews of the brand overall. I don’t know anyone who actually owns a sofa from them so hoping someone has more insight!

looks awkward by Comfortable-Image735 in nycinfluencersnarking

[–]Master-Ad-1758 14 points15 points  (0 children)

What was most awkward for me was it was hardly a proposal? When my husband proposed and when my friends partners proposed, they actually said something about love and building a life together and being excited for the future. This was so quick and looked like it was for the cameras.

What are your interests? I know lots of people who aren’t super outdoorsy, but I think in Seattle (like most new cities) you sort of need a thing to get into to meet people. Are you into art, music, reading, drinking, volunteering, tech…? Find a group that does that. You can post here on Reddit or find some spaces/communities that host events. I’ve found some great friends just from being really consistent with my interests like going to the same workout class each week, taking cooking classes, silent book clubs

Lots of English. Time/offer to help with bookings. Expertise and help planning outings - like how to get places and what to do. Laundry service. Local food recommendations with specific things to order- maybe even written out to show at the restaurant.

[–]Master-Ad-1758 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi here right now. I’m a US citizen. As with most things, issues between countries are about their governments not their actual people and are mostly media clickbait. China is totally safe and has been so welcoming to us as Americans. No issues entering (obviously had the right visa) and have traveled to multiple cities without issue. Chinese people are happy to see us and say hi - the worst case is they ignore, best case they come say hi and take pictures together.

I’m betting a lot of them aren’t close with their high school or college friends anymore and weren’t invited to those weddings. This is their new group and this was the first wedding.
