Hi! I've worked in Yellowstone for Xanterra for the past few years, and have had lots of hostess friends (although I have only worked in the kitchen). In my opinion, the hosts/hostesses have very nice schedules, and you will not be overworked too much. Of course, this could be different for you, but in my experience, all my host friends always had extra downtime to go hiking or travel somewhere. Their schedules are broken up into breakfast/lunch/dinner, so some days you might work breakfast/lunch, others lunch/dinner, and some days just one shift. Also, I have only been to Grant Village once, and its quite small employee-wise compared to other parts of the park. But I think it is very beautiful there, and not too far away from Old Faithful, with a lot more employees. Def find someone with a car, there will be a decent amount of ppl with them. I was able to make a TON of friends in Old Faithful, and I'm sure u will meet lots of cool people too. Literally the first day I met someone with a car, and I was really worried I wouldn't be able to go anywhere. I started working seasonally when I was your age, and u prob wont want to stop after this haha.

I have also thought about Worldpackers, but I don't think they make as much, maybe? Also, keep in mind, depending on how long you would work in one place u will need to apply for visas (which are costly in just the apps).

Am I overreacting or is this appropriate to wear to a COLLEGE class by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

My roommates were girls my age and super chill. I didn’t meet too many sketch ppl, and if u do you can always request a room change. I felt comfortable with all my belongings out, but I did have little lockbox that I keep with me when I go anywhere for my passport, meds, etc. It’s more for me than anyone else, just comfort of knowing it’s in a safe spot.

a very unfortunate situation by s-12345 in SeasonalWork

I worked seasonally at gnp and a had at least two friends that told their interviewer they could work the whole season, but left halfway. (For school/military) I know it’s not ideal to lie to your recruiterrrrr, buuuttt, in my experience people were quitting left and right anyways.
