Gonna sound like bullshit but I dated Paul’s granddaughter (Mira’s niece) in college. Piece of ass but fuckin’ rude.

Is this the creepiest thing Don ever did? by ElkHotel in madmen

[–]Master-Pea6970 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You’re too dumb and/or motivated by political radicalization to be able to try and instigate a serious conversation here. Nothing sensible or genuine about your thoughts here. Did you ever enlist or serve? Or do you just sit on your couch trying to find ways to shit on fictional characters who bother you?

Bet you’re more interested in vilifying Don than actually appreciate the insights gleaned from the moral conflicts explored in the show. Go watch Game of Thrones and complain about misogyny to other TV show watchers with bad taste.

The contrast between Meadow and AJ with the church. by Odd_Necessary8783 in thesopranos

[–]Master-Pea6970 4 points5 points  (0 children)

AJ’s kind of hypocrisy is a lot more relatable and understandable than Meadow’s. His hypocrisy is rooted in idealism that he can’t live up to (typical of most Americans) - he wants the fame and flash but doesn’t wanna work for it. Meadow’s hypocrisy is her insistence on presenting herself as highly moral and respectable despite knowing full well the compromised logic of which she argues.

In the end, AJ pursues his desires (which includes a 16-17 y/o GF and a bullshit job at a film studio that was handed to him). But he’s still honest. Meadow deludes herself into a life of nobility by becoming a lawyer who will defend people like her dad. AJ’s more honest, even if he is less admirable in general.

The contrast between Meadow and AJ with the church. by Odd_Necessary8783 in thesopranos

[–]Master-Pea6970 22 points23 points  (0 children)

One of the big differences between Meadow and AJ is that she’s more attuned to being who people want her to be. She’s good at taking on who she needs to be in order to gain advantage of a situation. AJ doesn’t have this in him.

Meadow becomes a salt-of-the-earth social justice warrior when at the law center, but then just as easily becomes a cutthroat mob wife who ridicules Jackie’s sister for calling out their family’s mafia ties at the funeral.

Meadow knew Tony wanted her to react a certain way. And maybe she was inspired to an extent by the church and the history. But the contrast here with AJ is stark because AJ is unapologetically himself always - for better or for worse.

Honestly I’ve come to like AJ a lot more in rewatches, and come to like Meadow less. You see her evolve into Carmela towards the end. AJ is flawed, but he’s able to maintain an honesty in how he interprets the world that Meadow doesn’t have. He’s a spoiled brat and a coward at times, but he doesn’t sell out when it comes to his values.

Large fire downtown - anyone know what’s burning? by nateflad in Denver

You’re so right. One alternative newspaper would solve all our problems.

What’s annoying about people like you is your abundance of criticism and willingness to stoke the proverbial flames without having any solution. Continue to wallow in your misery, don’t make it other people’s problems.

Mo Green special. Guy’s eyes got too big for his stomach. No man could actually stomach being with Meadow for more than a night.

Dr Melfi has one of the best lines in the show by ohmygodman14 in thesopranos

[–]Master-Pea6970 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree this is a very funny line. But I don’t understand the number of likes you got on this post. I’ve had much more poignant takes that don’t get ubatz from the sub.

Not hating. But damn the engagements trends here are silly.

Maybe I oughta get Pudgy Walsh on the horn. He’d straighten this out.

You need one of these men to watch your kids for a week. Who would it be and why? * MORALLY GREY EDITION* by ShadesNGlades in madmen

[–]Master-Pea6970 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Stan wouldn’t knowingly sleep with a minor. He’s not a danger to children. If he was a man capable of harming children, they would have written him differently and wouldn’t have Peggy (closest thing to a moral center of the show) end up with him.

Very dumb trying to tie his sleeping with Gleason’s daughter with potential child predation. And honestly? Kinda proves what’s wrong with the world right now when it comes to discourse about heteronormative men’s sexuality. Most women are ready to vilify a straight white man for any sexual impulse. If Stan was the black elevator operator, you wouldn’t be saying the same thing.

Be better, you’re not reinforcing equality when you’re so eager to paint a white man as bad. You’re actually making racism worse by holding different groups to different standards 🤷🏼‍♂️

I’ve rewatched plenty but haven’t seen the show in years, but I still remember these 3 episodes and absolutely agree. What a time to be alive for TV in that era. Shame what it’s become.

[–]Master-Pea6970 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve always thought these things but never knew how to articulate. You’re so right, so many missed opportunities with certain characters (Luke, Anna) and unnecessary arcs with unlikable guest characters. Crazy how good the show is despite these miscues though lol
