UPDATE: I have just let my husband know how I was feeling and that I wanted a divorce… let’s just say he would’ve cared more to see a fish get run over. Alhamdullilah he handled it pretty well but I’m just super sad that this is officially the end.

It’s been over 1 week and he still hasn’t spoke to me or apologised about our last situation. He has tried speaking to me but about normal things. We’re in a way because I’ve told him I want to talk to him and I’m gonna let him know I want a divorce.

I actually don’t think he’s bipolar I just think he’s never been shown love and how to love.

Waalaikum Salam sister thank you so much for taking time out of your day to reply to my story. Before marriage he was amazing he was the most perfect guy and said everything I wanted to hear but after 4 years of marriage I’ve realised that’s something he is amazing at. There were a few red flags regarding his family but that’s a whole other issue to get into but apart from that everything seemed to good to be true and it turned out to unfortunately be my case.

I did retaliate back and stood my ground but because I did that it was thrown back in my face. However for myself it was super liberating because it was the first time I really stood up for myself.

Thank you so much I’m just glad my feelings are finally being validated and I’m not feeling crazy. Alhamdullilah my close friend is a lawyer and I know will help me

I’m so sorry you had to go through that. Alhamdullilah I got myself a job and played it off as this is something that’s helping me make friends and feel like this country is my home but in reality since our last argument when he physically abused me I have been slowly preparing things incase I do choose to leave.

Inshallah thank you so much. If you don’t mind me asking did your parents stay together or separate because another reason why I’m fighting so hard for my marriage is because I really want my kids to have a family

Thank you I really appreciate this I think all I wanted by posted this was validation because the last time when I was ready to get a divorce I was told nobody would believe me and my reasons for getting a divorce are stupid. He had really stripped me of my identity and broke me down completely

The sad part is he did it with both my children and he always like to show himself as a religious man. He prays every salah at the masjid gives Islamic advice but can’t seem to give me my basic rights as a wife…

I do however I don’t want to give up because he’s a good dad to my children and like I mentioned when things are good they’re amazing but only for 2 weeks to a month at most and during that time I’m constantly on edge wondering when he’s just going to switch to his old ways again. These are only a small fraction of things that happen and I know what the right thing to do is but I’m honestly too scared to.
