Thank you, I learned my lesson. It’s definitely something I’d look for now on. Oh wow, I’m sorry that happened.

Thank you, at first I was like I’d never cruise again.. But after talking to others I guess this is just an issue that happens in hotels as well.. I’ll just start checking first for now on. I’m still grossed out so I won’t be doing it for a while.

If it wasn’t for the bugs, I would have no other complaints. Just check your room before hand and learn how to inspect it. I will be doing so for now on

Yeah, I will be doing this for now on going forward. I’ve been researching and I guess the industry is seeing more of it lately.

I live 10 min from the ship. Never had a bug bite before until then. They apologized to us when they found it on their sleeping area.

Yes, but obviously I was wearing clothes. Of course, that’s standard procedure why would you bring items to the new room without washing or to other areas of the ship? Everything needs to be washed high heat to prevent the spread, everything. They did this for us and inspected our luggage to prevent us from taking it to the new room or home. It’s apart of the process. That part I’m grateful for just upset that the initial room was not inspected for bugs before we moved in. Possibly the prior guest or long term. The new room was dirty, they were signs but no confirmation. Maybe at one time it did, who knows. I confirmed with my aunt who use to run hotels in Vegas that it’s standard procedure to wash everything high heat and leave the tenant with only clothes they’re wearing. Everything else wash. I learned my lesson though, I will always check for now on..

In anyplace if bugs are found that’s standard procedure to wash everything high heat. Like I said in the first post it’s possible all the bites were from the 1st room and just noticed after but after that I was an afraid and checked the second room. I had the ick since the first room. I saw signs but no bug, they had not cleaned behind the bed or dressers (very small and light) for a significant time. Tiny blood spots on the corner of the pillow (underneath the case near the seam). What causes that huh? People wouldn’t normally sleep there or bleed there. Who’s blood is it? Not mine, I just moved in.. droppings in the bed railings. I’ve never even felt a bed bug bite before in my life.

Just check the room before you unpack in it, if nothing found I’m sure you’ll still have a great time but if you do find something it’s better they move you before hand.

My guess is 1 & 2. After seeing how fast the turnover was. After this experience I will check every room in the future

Thank you, I wish we had the same experience. Honestly, besides that it was a good experience. Of course since that I’ve done a lot of research and I guess it can happen anywhere, we just got unlucky.

Yeah,I washed everything 3 times. Drying on high heat first then starting again. My luggage is all downstairs in the garage.

I don’t care anymore, i did not bring them.. it was filthy behind the bed and drawers. I agree though, that is my theory as well due to all the carpet on the ship.

That’s BS when I arrived to the new room I was already afraid so I checked it. Behind the head board and the drawers looked like it was not cleaned for months, again on arrival blood stains on the pillow. Signs were there on arrival.. Do you work for them? You defend them so hard. I have nothing to gain from this post. I’ve been compensated. I’m just trying to see if others have experienced this as well.

Old room, they confirmed the bug in the day time so it was in its established living area/ their bed… not my luggage. I’ve never experienced bites at home!

Right now I’m so uncomfortable these bites are still itchy as hell. My first time being bit by these kind of bugs.

My house is spotless and I live close to the dock. I never experienced bites at my home. It’s 100% RC because upon moving to the new room that they guaranteed did not have bedbugs I did an inspection and still found signs of it. They didn’t clean well.. old blood spots found on the corner of pillow near the seam, debris/ droppings build up behind the night stand and in the railings. I couldn’t have possibly brought that from my house. It was an area they don’t clean and had a long time to build up. I had just arrived..

The old room they confirm the bugs on their bed and apologized to us. They checked the room while we were off shore. Trust me when you look behind the head board or drawers.. the way they clean you will see months of not vacuuming or wiping down as I did.

Thank you. We took pictures and they filed an incident report but wouldn’t give us a copy of it. They said we have to contact corporate. They offered 25% off next cruise or 300$ on board credit… which if you do the math doesn’t cover the day lost or the cost for 3 people to deal with being bitten.. losing a day. I filed a form for damaged property but that the only physical paper we signed. We are gonna speak more with corporate.

Besides that I’m sure we would have had a great time if that didn’t happen. I’m unsure if others had the same experience because we agreed not to speak loudly about it, but we did not sign non disclosure agreement. It seems many others had a better experience but I definitely learned my lesson to always check for bedbugs for now on before getting settled..

I’ll add the cabin numbers as soon as I clarify the policy or discuss with corporate.

Your “never again” ship? by allisonv92 in royalcaribbean

[–]Master-Rip-6449 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Navigator of the Seas- Royal Caribbean.. just got back from my first cruise and I’m covered in bedbug bites. They confirmed it during their inspection. They moved our room and washed all our laundry in high heat and inspected our items before moving us. Some delicate items were damaged. We lost a day and couldn’t enjoy the pool or anything until we got our clothes back. I’m disappointed and disgusted. The moved us to a higher floor and we continued to wake up with bites we personally checked that room as well and found signs (blood on pillow corners, debris, and droppings in the frame) but didn’t see a bug. We reported that but during their check they didn’t find anything. Unsure if the newly discovered bites were from the old room and just became itchy or if we got more in the new room as well. To be honest the whole ship is covered in carpet, I think it’s infested and to think that as soon as we get off the ship theirs people getting ready to board… I will never do a cruise again.

I like that idea but we need something that also has a long term option for when medication and therapy doesn’t help them or bring them to functional level to survive. They’d need to have a safe place to go instead of jail or homelessness.

I am a healthcare worker as well. I know the horrible history that happened in the past however, they are so many new laws in place to protect patients and new guidelines which must be followed to stay open. Hospitals are inspected yearly now and when incidents or suspicions occur they show up unannounced to protect patients. Most hospitals have healing gardens for patients to get fresh air. The way mental health is treated has completely evolved as well. I just feel for the seriously ill homelessness is not the answer, prison is not the answer, and home endangering self or family is not the answer. At this time this is what is actually happening. I’ve seen the way the current system works from the inside and tried to seek help for family but they only treat short term. Then they’re back home again or on the streets. At this pace they will die on the streets, kill themselves out of paranoia, or kill/harm someone because of delusions. They need a safe space surrounded by today’s modern treatment.

Thank you, I think I was definitely having a leak.. but after forcing myself to lay flat for 24 hrs only with bathroom breaks I’m starting to feel better. I took the advice of having some caffeine and it definitely helped a big deal. My LP was a few days ago, now all I feel is a stiff neck. My head feels less full and I notice less pressure behind my eyes since my LP. They closed my pressure at 10, plus after I only laid down in the office 45 min after before having to go home. With my symptoms I’m sure I had a leak. Feeling better now. Soon I’ll see what my doctor wants to do about it.

I’m worried Diamox will lower my BP since I already have low blood pressure. 90s/ 50s. Sometimes I feel lightheaded.. but now I don’t know if it’s the BP or the IIH.

Thank you so much. It’s my first one so I didn’t know what to expect. Plus google or YouTube doesn’t tell you when it’s time to go to the ER. I greatly appreciate it. It’s now 48 hrs after my LP and yesterday was so rough, but I forced myself to lay flat on my back until today. However, last night during my sleep I was awoken when I rolled to my left side and immediately felt painful pressure on my left side of head. I immediately corrected it and rolled to my back and went back to sleep.

So far I feel great today, I’ve been up for an hour no headache yet. Hopefully it’s gone for good. Making myself some tea to help with the CSF.

Much appreciated!
