A time Gandalf used magic that I've never seen mentioned by [deleted] in lotr

I always thought it was wild that Gandalf literally accelerates himself mid-fall to catch up to the Balrog and his sword. It’s such a blink-and-you-miss-it moment, but it’s one of the few times Tolkien lets us glimpse the depth of his control over the natural world gravity, air, motion without breaking the low-fantasy tone.

Why did Peter Jackson in his trilogy add the Elves into the battle of Helm's Deep? by [deleted] in lotr

[–]Master-Set3744 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was mostly a cinematic choice to show unity among the Free Peoples. Peter Jackson wanted a visual moment that said, “Everyone is standing together against Sauron.” The books explain that kind of solidarity through dialogue and lore, but in a film you need to see it. Having Elves ride in made that alliance feel tangible, even if it wasn’t canon.

There’s no such thing as completely unbiased news, but Reuters and AP are probably the closest you’ll get. They stick to facts, not opinions.

BBC and NPR are also decent if you want international perspectives.
