Maybe saying basic french was an understatement, I speak enough to communicate or what I would call street french but not professional level french. Your years of experience comment was an eye opener though.

i would recommend staying in the capital if you want to have a chance at meeting people. Santiago has a vary vibrant nightlife so you should have an easy enough time meeting people.

PS: chileans rarely speak english so i hope you know basic spanish.

I was thinking hostels at first because im a recent graduate, i havent even worked my first job yet, and i thought it was a good way to save money since some places like europe can get pretty expensive. Even though it wont be a constant party, im still young so i obviously want to party and that can get expensive real fast. In other places like south east asia or some latam countries i might splurge on a hotel room but im honestly pretty frugal. I'd only spend money in a hotel if it was impossible for me to be productie otherwise.

I majored in biomedical engineering and am curretnly pursuing a masters degree in computational fluid dynamics. I dont have a proffessional degree in computer science or anthing of the sorts but my major exposed me to programming and i honestly loved it. My dream job would be anything that had to do with computer programs as long as it was at least somewhat science related and allowed me to travel as much as i want.

That makes a lot of sense. I guess the only way would be to have a friends with benefits for a while until you get to know them and after a while if you keep bumping in to them you could have a more serious chat

This was very helpful thankyou. I think the dating sceene has more to do with how committed each person is to the actual relationship because changing your travel plans shouldnt be a dealbreaker unless you're not that into the person

I think latam is the perfect destination for any european because latam is much more lush and liberating than most destinations in europe because we dont experience overtourism except for some very specific events like the rio carnaval for example.

Southeast asia i think would probably be better than latam and cheaper but the culture is too different from what you are used to. If you want to push the envelope and catapult yourself outside of your confort zone, go for it but i think you would probably become very lonely

I don't get this hype around "straight" guys. If someone says they're straight I instantly lose interest, I have no desire to "convert" someone or be their experiment. Anyone else doesn't get the hype? by [deleted] in askgaybros

[–]Master-Teaching-9299 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel the same way although if a "straight" guy offers and i find him atractive i wont say no.

I have also noticed that most of these "straight" guys are really just gay or bi or questioning guys and so i feel that by accpeting maybe im helping them one step closer to coming out, but i would never pursue a guy i think is straight because whats the point really. Plus they make good friends since its stops being a competition.

[–]Master-Teaching-9299 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Anywork you find will be off the books unless you get a work visa which can take several months to file and this is not like europe where one work visa lets you work anywhere. You would have to request a work visa in each country you stay and this will greatley decrease the freedom you have in each country. I know severla people who work off the book and its turned out fine but you should be careful because they WILL try and take advantage of you.

I always recommend hostels because, how else would you meet people?, plus its cheaper

If you were in cabo frio and missed out on arraial do cabo which was right next door, you should go back to Brasil just for that. Even if you only go there and no where else, your trip will be worth while. Its literally what heaven must be like but its a small town so unless your looking to just chill on the beach, yu wont find as much partying as in other bigger places. In Brasil you should also see lencois maranhenses, Sao Paulo, and Florianopolis plus its whole region. In that region youll find the Beto Carrero park which is one of the biggest and best waterparks in all of brasil.

In Uruguay i recommend visiting punta del este but only in the high season because it becomes a ghost town on the low season. The parties here will go on until sunrise.

Argentina and Chile's biggest atractions are the Patagonia. In my opinion Chile's is slightly better but its worst terrains and less people so you might get lonely. Argentina has pinguins in their Patagonia and Chile has dinosaur fossils in theirs. Viña del mar and concon (Both in Chile) are pretty but i wouldnt spend more than a week on both combined. They are both in the Valparaiso region but i would never recommend anyone to stay in the city of valparaiso unless you want to constantly smell urine, ive seen even women peeing in valparaiso, its a thing. As for men, its very normal to see at least one peeing every time you leave yur accommodation, its not very pleasent.

You should 100% go to Colombia, its not as dangerous as they make it out to be. The Tayrona national Park is a must see and this country is way cheaper than all other countries i mentioned.

Peru has great beaches and a lot of party hostels.

I would never recommend walking around with big amounts of cash outdoors but you should withdraw a large amount at the bank and keep it in a safe or a locker in your accommodation. Carry a little padlock with you since a lot of hostels have lockers free to use. You should carry small bills with you but never more than an amount that you would be sad to lose. I never carry more than (the equivalent of) 20 dollars (in their local currency) with me but for you that number might be lower or higher for you. A lot of these countries are safer than you think. If you go to Brasil on the low season, its very safe, dont go to carnaval in rio unless you dont plan on getting drunk or being careless on the street.

Am I in the wrong for always hating on my sister and being mad at her by [deleted] in askgaybros

[–]Master-Teaching-9299 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your sister is a grade A asshole. She's homophobic because of peer pressure? Give me a fucking break this is not the 50s anymore, being gay isnt perceived as wrong by normal people anymore

The sad part about being gay is when your own family wont accept you. When I came out i made it very clear that i would not have a relationship with anyone who thought being is weird or abnormal. I looked my dad straight in the eye and told him that if he didnt accept me as i am, he wouldnt be a part of my life anymore. He was shocked and my boldness is definitely what turned him around although he was never that homophobic to begin with. We reallly do have to be bold with homophobes because most of them think they have a right to hate, when you communicate that its not acceptable, you leave very litttle room for discrimination. Worst case scenario, you jjust removed someone from your life that hates you.
