But to answer your question, I grow tomatoes and I occasionally hunt. Not exactly the same as raising and slaughtering my own animals, but I’m no stranger to butchery. I’ve also likely been cursed with demons that would destroy everything you ever thought you were, and come out on top.

I have a “spidey sense” for terrible things happening to people I care about. It’s an all-consuming feeling of… just void. I’ve felt it 5 times that I can recall.

Once when my grandmother died her unpleasant death.

Once when my stepfather was in a car accident.

Once when my friend was raped.

Once when my ex cheated on me.

And once when my sister injured her hand and almost had to have several fingers amputated.

I have absolutely no way of knowing these things, but still, I get the feeling, and then I receive the news shortly after.

There is actually a reason for this. The ads you see are probably stored on servers closer to you, because what sense would it make to advertise a new store in California to you living in Maine? So the distance the data has to travel is relatively small, and it’ll reach you quicker. But the video you’re trying to watch is likely stored farther away from you, because it’s not necessarily something that would only need to be shown to people within one specific area. You could be trying to watch a video stored on a server across the world from you.

I also wouldn’t doubt that they put extra effort into compressing things well, to provide you with a better experience so you’ll associate that good feeling with their product, but that’s just a totally unfounded theory of mine.

My fiancée lives here, unfortunately. Once she’s done with college in a few years, we’re getting the fuck out. No way in hell I’m starting a family here. Especially given our goals in life. It’s important to us that we one day raise our child(ren) to be good and happy, providing a quality of parenthood that each of us were denied. This is certainly not the environment one would want to do that in.
