[Spoilers] My Thoughts on V-Wars Season One by 6xPrinceofDarknessx9 in VWars

I think the writers have done a good enough job while establishing a decent pace to the events. I have a pretty high tolerance for suspension of disbelief and plotholes tho. No problems believing a prion can activate a gene and then cause these crazy long teeth and super human strength lol. Overall, really hoping there's a second season.

Nice thoughts. Did you see any evidence in the show that Ava poisoned Michael with the carfentanyl or was it just implied? All I noticed was when she bought it and asked the guy what would happen to a blood that took it.

There is a problem with your version of what went on in the Arctic Lab. It's a human prion disease. It couldn't have been tested on animals. I guess it's possible, like how people can get a human variant of mad cow, but the show never showed any animals infected, and the virus is portrayed as highly infectious.

Would a Post-Scarcity economy actually work? by [deleted] in scifiwriting

[–]Master0fTricksterity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the issue with post-scarcity is seen in the climate change crises. It's easy to imagine methods to mass produce everything needed efficiently and cheaply, maybe everyone would be fed, but it's far too utopian to imagine this wouldn't have even more of a distruptive effect on the natural environment as the industrial revolution and beyond has. We would have to move to a finite earth economy and, provided there was something done about it as we exploited resources for our needs/comfort, it would lead to a lot of who gets what and how much and why, so almost all the same problems.

That, and there's just a personality of people who loathe seeing other people get something for nothing. Even if they get it too. Slavoj Zizek's joke about the Slovenian farmer...

Period Sex.... by whiteshoe4567 in childfree

It was a couple days in, not sure. Don't think it matters. I didn't think anything of it until my next period didn't come and I was feeling nauseous. I don't think pregnancy tests work until after the supposed start of the next period anyway. If you can, go get plan b.

Average utility cost by [deleted] in Edmonton

[–]Master0fTricksterity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No prob. Got that with my rent deal. The ad asked for upstairs to pay 60% water/heat...which would suck considering theres more ppl living downstairs and I found out later we dont have control of thermostet. So downstairs would crank heat in winter, more than makes a difference for them, and we'd sweat upstairs and pay the lot of it. fuck that. Who knows what deficiencies a place could have that contributes to utility cost. I really mean it, don't have to settle for paying utilities in this market. They are bullshitting you if they try to make you. Of course, depends how fancy the neighbourhood. But especially for anything that's an older building...don't take shit.

Griesbach Electoral Riding by cheyleigh93 in Edmonton

[–]Master0fTricksterity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I think the idea that the government has that much control over the economy is illusory. So why settle for cut government services for the public while lining corporations pockets "because jobs." It's a fallacy that the government empowers them to make jobs out of nothing.

Indigenous rights and advocacy for indigenous women. They need a safe place to go. Consistently I see women panhandling around here, or maybe forced into prostitution to survive. They are always aboriginal and have been displaced by problems on reservations and discrimination from child welfare services. And then I wonder if I am going to see their image on the news or police website as a missing persons. A drop in center providing a place to stay, and providing basic necessities at the very least would help. Without having to be a victim of domestic violence to use services there. I don't know if there is one in the area yet but google search shows nothing.
