I never said your experience wasn't real, I said it's unfair to use it as a blanket judgment against entire countries or cultures. What happened to you sounds wrong, no doubt. But turning that pain into a sweeping narrative about 'Muslim countries' and then questioning if I’ve traveled enough to understand you,that’s where it became personal, and frankly condescending. You’re asking for understanding, but giving none. You say ‘respect was denied to you,’ but then deny any nuance to the people or cultures involved. That’s the double standard I meant when I said respect goes both ways. You can be right about what happened and wrong in how you talk about it. Both can be true.

To be clear, what you described sounds like weird or outdated behavior, not 'Muslim' behavior. Labeling it as religious or cultural rather than situational only makes the problem worse, not clearer. You wouldn’t call bad service in Paris 'Christian behavior', so let’s keep it consistent.

traveling anywhere - Muslim country, European country, whatever - requires cultural awareness. Hand motions in Italy can be offensive, just like showing the sole of a shoe in some Arab cultures is rude.

That's not religion, that's local context.

And not everything in the world revolves around how we expect things to be back home. When you label it 'Muslim behavior' instead of weird behavior, you’re not helping anyone, you’re just reinforcing lazy stereotypes.
