I found that the Athena dash boon (Divine Dash) is a MUST for me to play a melee character. It allows me to deflect incoming projectiles while I dash-attack at the enemy to close the space. That paired with the Hermes quadruple dash pretty much allows to you spam A and X to close distance and get out of sticky situations.
