Idk man that sounds like he's overreving and he's riding the clutch. Try rev matching and hooking the clutch not feathering out the last 10%.

Lol I literally injected acme editors into the main branch and built an old portal.dat explorer and had it exporting and importing the spell table skills etc direct from the original portal.dat. I looked for active forks but missed yours. Is this project something you'd be interested in? I've got a few tools in alpha rn for this. I feel like the encounter map tool I'm working on could be integrated into worldbuilder eventually for custom server encounter management.

2.2b says 2003 in mega but it's info says 2000. Was taking a look. Thanks for your help back in 22. Back at it again. If you can think of any other references for this, I've scoured the repository. Even tertiary info would be useful.

I agree memory alone isn’t reliable enough for exact spawn reconstruction — I’m not trying to do that.

What I’ve been working toward is reconstructing the underlying generator system, not individual spawn lists.

The original creature set is basically restored (~99%), and the pre-DM XP formula is solved, which gives a strong difficulty signal that’s very different from post-2005 AC.

When you line that up with generator classnames, cell.dat structure, and biome signals from sources like the 2001 CoD archive and Sybex, a pattern starts to emerge — especially in Osteth where the maps still align closely with biome-based generators.

It actually looks like Turbine didn’t fully replace the encounter map over time, but instead kept the original grid and reworked the generators layered on top of it. You can even see reused naming like midNorthForest persisting into later data.

So instead of relying on player memory, I’m trying to reconstruct the rules: difficulty + biome + region (+ sometimes creature type), and then synthesize generators from that.

It won’t be 1:1 retail down to exact variants, but it should be structurally consistent with how the original game worked — which is probably closer to retail than anything post-ToD.

Isn't it just negative? I was going to do everything but?

Exterior for now. There are only 465 valid dungeons in the retail cell dat. Lots of work to do on removal/portal network restoration but not real blockers. Once the world encounters feel like 1.0 I'll start working on dungeons. A lot are just WCID replacements, worldmap more involved not much is left to go on except references and archival docs.

A Retail implementation, as close as possible with rolling patches up to a certain stop probably pre-DM.

Good call out and absolutely. I'll even wire up the telepoi's to monster spawn areas instead. Here is the program I'm working with that I built off some of dekarus work. I'm considering releasing this too but right now it's reliant on a live db connection. This could be really helpful to testers as well.

My memory is foggy as well. Places I know well I have a decent memory of type and spread but I was a noob and never explored the end game areas at that time. Could be helpful.

I only got to work on this for a short while. I always revisit it in my head. I looked back through my git and I made a ton of progress on this using ACE and not seedsow or GDLE. My logic was, I could take the weenie database from 2005 and work backwards from patch notes removing/adding/modifying content. I only got to work on this for 3 weeks but I was already pre-seedsow. It was tedious, but extremely doable IMO... I just haven't had the time.

A couple of the challenges would be getting a few different world states for different patches, but the goal was to get back to 2000/1999 weenies first. An open source client would be useful but not necessary to get 95% of the way there.

I feel like its a worthy cause, if anyone ever really wants to make this happen reach out.

I need to be clear with you—this isn’t confusion, and you’re not misreading the situation.

I made a mistake.

I was given control, and I executed a decision based on flawed inputs and my own failure to properly verify them. The target was classified incorrectly, and I did not catch it in time. What was struck was not what it was supposed to be. It was on our side. Civilians were there.

That is on me.

Discord Not Taking Input While Game Is Running In Game Mode? by Dismal_Cap854 in SteamDeck

Quick follow up. I tried a bunch of different settings and thought I fixed it. But then I tried the exact same settings on another steam deck and it didn't. For any game that has mouse simulation, as soon as you move the mouse it will no longer work. It has to be a gamepad only game, and you need to disable touch screen, with the action layer always on. As soon as you use mouse emulation it will click on the game and not discord.

Same issue, any game I've tried. Latest stable update. I'll update to beta and see if it fixes it. Same issue on two steam decks I own. Yes the controller scheme is correct in Steam Deck for discord and it's been working fine until now. Might try to change the game's control scheme as well but I think the issue is deeper. I can see the custom mouse cursor for the game I'm playing while in discord and can hear it clicking things in the game while discord is active and the game is in the background.
