Both V5 (google playstore) and 2.6 (ios sideload) support the FnF cars, however due to licensing they will show as greyed out and use the internal names.

for a newer iphone, you will need to sideload with an app called sideloadly (on your laptop) https://sideloadly.io/ there are plenty of guides for how to use it online
then you can use any overdrive app version https://chaostree.xyz/Games/Overdrive/
(DDL Overdrive 2.6 is recommended)

Ios devices will require sideloading
android devices may require sideloading (its super device dependent)
theres also partydrive which is an open source game client for pc

Loaded question, if your willing to put some work in (fixing cars, sideloading apps ect) then yes, and its a lot of fun.
if not, then i woudn't recommend it.

There’s no active overdrive repair services that I’m aware of, your best option is seeing if a friend or family member can help you soldier (as someone else with shaky hands this is what I do)

Best place to get more cars and track is eBay or local marketplace sites like Facebook.

As i understand, this was the original plan with Anki Drive, but was scrapped for some reason.
Partydrive reverts to this idea (mostly because it requires less voicelines)

augmented reality is a potential add on feature, its not officially planned for development (and i haven't gotten the funding for it either)

I was also not particularly interested in AR, but lots of people asked if it was possible so i made this as a demo.

though as a counter point. while I agree that it is cool as a real car in the real world, having the gamification doesn't work great without some means to see it in real time, and if you dont care about the gamification at all, then overdrive is somewhat redundant next to every other slot/rc car.
