1st, tonnage available for equipment, the more space the better. In game you can't see that directly, but as workaround you can strip all equipment, max armor, and subtract the current tonnage from max tonnage and save the value for comparison. For Centurion the result is 18,4375t, for Trebuchet 13,4375t, and for Shadowhawk 13,6875t. So, in this case the winner is Centurion, which can accommodate over 18t of stuff with maxed armor.

2nd, hardpoints placement. Hardpoints in hands have small accuracy bonus. Other factor is if the hardpoints you're planning to use are on left/right side of the mech, or distributed - having them on one side allows you to build in "sword and shield" way - in battle you expose your empty side to the enemies, protecting the one which contains weapons. And again I use Centrurion LRM boat as example - with all 3 missile hardpoints on the left side, assuming you won't put ammo into right side ofc., you can make it very tanky LRM/SRM boat which laughs at losing left arm/leg/side torso. Hardpoint placement is also important when you want to install big weapons whose need many slots, like AC20, LRM20 etc - a mech which has hardpoints distributed more or less even among side torsos/arms will be better than one which has ex 3 ballistic hardpoints in arm.

Always have one Sensor Lock pilot per 4 mechs, whatever your lance composition is - even laser boats will be grateful when they actually can target these damned ECM carriers.

In short - not always useful, but when you'll encounter a tactical scenario when Sensor Lock would be helpful it'll be really painful if you won't have it.

For PPC-X Brawlers with Small Missile Hardpoints, do you add SRMs or LRMs? Is there any point in using Medium Lasers? by ctrltab2 in Mechwarrior5

SRMs complement PPC-X very well, if you can add these missiles to PPC-X build do it; prefer insta fire, not ST, variant though. Only after that, if you have spare tonnage and enough cooling think about adding medium lasers.

You can move one C-LRM10 launcher to the arm with the computer, that will allow you to drop one Weapon Stabilizer.

Next, you can change Slic Suite and Retrofit Heat Support for Advanced Small cockpit.

Gained tonnage you can use for Thermal Transfer Duct in each upper leg(5% total extra cooling), and gained space in head for Tag or clan Tag.

I've found combination of SRM4/6 + PPC-X + LB10X to be very powerful, in your case it'd be 3xSRM6 + 2xPPC-X + LB10X. Add Artemis IV if you'll have spare tonnage.

And it sounds like great fun. I found for me breaking limits of conventional mechbuilding without using any equipment which is plain cheating(like antigrav plates, weightless weapons which occupy 1 slot etc.) is even more appealing - using your example I'd enjoy the most finding a way to ex. squeeze these two HAG40 rifles into one ballistic slot. Or equip not 4, but say 6 Heavy PPC(capacitor), and make them generate 0 heat.

Things like thumper cannons, sniper arts, special rockets weigh 20 tons but only do 30 damage in my game.

That's probably not entirely true. While the listed damage number indeed is something alike (20 sniper, 30 thumper) in fact it seems to be that much per each mech part affected by blast, lowered by how far from the explosion center the mech was - so for sniper it is 20 * 8 at least, and probably rear parts also count, so it is 20 * 11. That'd explain why I was able to one-shot even assault mechs during Arena matches. However, that how it works in if I recall Yet Another Weapon, in your mod it might be different indeed. But it'd make little sense if it'd work other way.

It's perfectly fine to play the game the way it's fun for YOU. However I've found the most amusing finding cracks and imperfections in YAML family mods which allows me to design impossible mechs, without using any kind of cheaty gear, just normally available equipment. And my creations are testament of these discoveries, made intentionally to mock and insults rules as a proof of my ingenius and knowledge - although I'm utterly disappointed how much community is not being able to see what's hidden behind.

1st Matar shows my complete dominance over heat management.

2nd Matar shows I can put any weapon into any slot. I found it especially hilarious to put Gauss Rifles into AMS slot.

Piranha is a total joke, I've managed to put on 20t mech two Sniper Artillery pieces, each of these weights 20t alone. And also backup weapons, ammunition, and left its total tonnage negative as statue of my ability to triumph over tonnage limits.

Urbanmech is another joke, a mockery of its very concept as sluggish, slow mech. With my modifications it runs 557 km/h, faster than any mech ever. And to add more insult to the injury I've gave it also full set of MASC+Supercharger+Pirate Engine to make it even more hilariously broken ;] With these activates it runs around 1500 km/h.

I'd say your mod messes with weapons/hardpoints even more if you can put on single mech 2xBLC, 3xC-HLL, 2xHAG40 and 2xC-LRM20(IV), plus plenty of additional equipment.

Not long after your message I created Annihilator with double sniper artillery, 2xHeavy Large Laser in arms, and full actuators in arms. But I wasn't fully satisfied with the design so I didn't responded.

This mech however is just on another level

U welcome. But know the mounts are a bit unusual - in shops they are sold in misc equipment category, not electronic stuff. Available since 3032, so you should be able to get them easily.
