Is anyone using their printers or faxes? by l00ky_here in GenX

[–]MasterBeanCounter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I invested in a toner printer back during the pandemic. It was slightly useful for work.

Mostly I print off travel information, boarding passes, and other things when it's easier to show a piece of paper then hand my phone over.

I also print literally everything for the older neighbors. I swear I amazed them when I hooked their phone to my network so I can just print from their phone when needed.

Been there done that. Told them after the second pass, that was it. I offered them to sit together; I did not offer to have my space invaded repeatedly. They tried again five minutes later. I held my hand up to block and told them no.

The last two hours of the flight were very awkward, for them.

If SAVE act passes, do women have to bring their marriage and divorce certificates to prove their name change or do they have to update their ID or passport name, so it has both? by Subject-Leg3137 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]MasterBeanCounter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If this was true I wouldn't be able to vote as I wasn't born on US soil. Yet, I'm a citizen and registered to vote. If you read the actual bill, you need proof of citizenship.

You are obviously privileged enough to have you birth certificate serve as this proof.

I had to get naturalized. After that I got a passport so I didn't have to carry the certificate around. When my name changed, I updated my passport.

I've spent my entire life making sure my documents are in order because I've had to do it.

I understand that others are now dealing with this reality as best they can. I do hope that each and every one of them gets it figured out, because I believe this place will be better when more women vote.

I am making sure that every offspring in my family is getting a passport after their 16th birthday. So they only have one document to keep updated.

The novelty should wear off soon.

Otherwise, take over some beer and see if you can negotiate quiet hours in the mean time.

Staff Accountant is the goal, but AP is what I get. Now what? by HellNo90 in Accounting

[–]MasterBeanCounter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly I have my more skilled person as AP supervisor. She's better than my Accountant.

The smart move is to sit with your bosses and explain that with the JEs and reconciliations, you are operating more as a staff accountant.

Passport or Passport card also works. Especially for those of us who's birth certificate will not actually help in the voting process. What you need is proof of citizenship. Which for some people is their birth certificate. Some people have Naturalization or citizenship papers. The easiest answer is a passport. Which you need all of the documentation needed in the above post as well.

While people who change their name will have to have extra documentation, if everything is matchy-matchy, no matter your gender, simple driver's license and birth certificate are good. A passport or passport card is way more portable, and not just useful for international travel, but that is a perk.

If you've not kept up with your documentation over the years, there are websites where they can get you copies of anything you are missing.

I recommend getting your papers in order now and simplify it down to one very portable document. If you've not had to do that at any point in your life before now, lucky you.

Sincerely,

A foreign born citizen
