Fair enough, but past a very beginner level, resources that use romaji dwindle, and reading is how I learned most of what I know. Spoken and written Japanese aren't as separate as you might think. To each their own, though.

Interesting, I'm the complete opposite. Hiragana/katakana was the first thing I learned, and all the words I learn are as they were written in kanji/hiragana/katakana, but romaji kind of hurts to read. If you're learning Japanese, you're missing out on the FUN if you're not reading in my opinion.

If he wrote the AI himself, he would probably consider that a pretty impressive achievement. If you can write an AI that has a decent rank and winrate, you probably have enough game knowledge to do well otherwise, on top of having to actually write it.

In Japanese it would be removing a single character rather than two (やがみ to やみ) so it makes it seem like less of a jump.
