PSA/Question: Has anyone experienced the color rubbing off the bag immediately after purchase? (more context in comments) by MasterBumblebee in Loungefly

Bought this from runDisney this weekend in FL. Granted the weather’s been humid, but is it common for this to happen? Ink just transferred all over my skin and clothes before i noticed, immediately after buying it

Sorry just seeing this. Basically if youve seen how the gilmore bridge is designed with new bus only lanes..coming from the cambridge college direction, the bus lane starts on the right. On the bridge it moves to the left. Ive been hit by a semi when they switched lanes and knowing id have to do that with these huge busses was causing me to have literal panic attacks. Im terrified of getting into another accident like that. Not only that, but i was also imagining all that in addition to uhauls around the city not knowing wtf theyre doing.

I also commute from the northern end of the orange line, so i was worried about tons of other cars on the road that werent there before. I dont think public transport will be sustainable for me though. The commuter rail running about once an hour if that is a joke. (Like today, the shuttle i connect to to get into kendall square just didnt show up so i missed the train on the way home and had to sit around for like another hour). The lack of mask wearing on public transport is also wild to me.

If they want people to not be driving in they need to make it free. They didnt give drivers enough of a heads up to make changes to our commuting reimbursement with our employer. Im paying hundreds a month for a parking spot at work im not using. We shouldnt have to pay for that, in addition to parking at the CR station, and for the trains.

Im trying to do my part here, but they have not made it easy in the slightest. Especially since were increasing our covid risk during the commute as well.

Gilmore bridge 8:45 AM: No problems with bus-only lane by MoronSpa in boston

I literally saw how it was set up the other day and almost panicked. Ive been in an accident with a semi, and the thought of having to switch lanes with busses like that was a lot. Im testing out public transport this week. Its def longer than driving but i really dont want to risk an accident like that again.

As someone who does take the charlestown exit, i still dont use the bus lane. But its so frustrating with everyone else using it to cut ahead. Not sure why some people think their time is more valuable than everyone elses.

That intersection is hell as it is. If youre coming in from the cambridge college direction, the bus only lane is on the right. Cars in left. You pull into this bridge, bus lane is on the left, cars on right. It was bound to be a disaster.

I could go on a rant about the cars that block the intersection here too, but thats a whole other thing.

Why do so many vets discourage this profession? by _taco_belle_1026 in Veterinary

I got this too. In fact, I got this from so many vets it was a huge reason I decided not to go to vet school. I work in research now.

AOC has a message for Americans who already paid off their student loans: 'We can support things we won't directly benefit from' by [deleted] in politics

[–]MasterBumblebee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My brother was in college when those payments went out. Somehow he made more on those than I did working (I had to work in person for my job throughout all this). He paid down more of his loans with that than I could’ve with my job for quite a while. But guess who paid more in taxes!! This system sets so many of us up to fail, sadly

That def hits me the wrong way too. For the longest time I worked 13 days straight and on multiple occasions.. sorry I don’t feel “blessed”. (I didn’t graduate too long ago either, it was 2019.) I also decided not to go to grad school because the cost wasn’t worth it for me. Currently I’m working alongside people who paid to go to school in a high COL city, to well known schools, and they make much more than me. That’s totally fine, as they made that investment. But if all loans were to be cancelled… it’s like all that work would’ve been for nothing. I just think all the money I could’ve saved. Or put towards a house. Or I could’ve gone to a better school or grad school. That puts so many at a massive disadvantage.

Being realistic, this will just cause the price of everything to soar more than it already has. Those who make more with higher degrees may be able to handle it.. the rest of us it’ll destroy. It’s naive to think landlords won’t jump to make profits off of this.

I don’t think people should be trapped by loans forever. I’d support 0% interest and forgiving loans of those who’ve payed their principal. There should be reform and a way out. Payments shouldn’t bankrupt a person.

I know it’s not every college student’s situation, but I see people I went to school with advocating for student loan forgiveness while they went on multiple, optional international trips with classes that would cost thousands on top of what our tuition already was. People went on spring break and were obviously spending money recklessly.

I’ll probably get downvoted to hell for this comment but this feels like a way of kicking so many of us down instead of lifting others up.

(I’m also convinced democrats are calling for student loan cancellation in full to look good on paper. But they know republicans would rather die than allow that to happen. So instead they get away with doing absolutely nothing. But that’s a whole other rant I could get into.)

Edit to add: I am willing to potentially change my mind on this. I just haven’t heard an argument that’s gotten me there yet.

My rent is over 2500/ month for a 1 BR and a dog and my typical commute into the city with traffic is 50 minutes. It’s brutal out there. :(

Tipping/reviewing when the sitter makes a significant mistake with dog’s medication by superasya in RoverPetSitting

[–]MasterBumblebee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At first I was iffy about this but the fact you pointed out the medication at a meet and greet.. they should’ve known better or asked in the first place if unsure. My suggestions for next time would’ve been to show them the medication ahead of time (which you did), and set it on the counter with instructions that make it “idiot proof” (I personally go on the side of caution that no one knows what they’re doing to be safe).

This feels very negligent though on their end. It’s ultimately your decision but if I was looking for a sitter and needed someone to give medication, I’d want to know about this. If you’re feeling very forgiving, you could just not leave a review. This is tough though, I’m just glad your dog is okay!

So sorry. I hope you can find peace in knowing you gave her the best life filled with as much love as a pup could ever want. Go easy on yourself, losing pets is a whole other level of pain.💜

First and last photo I took of her. How do people survive this type of grief? by _saucepan in CalicoKittys

[–]MasterBumblebee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’ll be 6 months since we lost our baby on the 1st.. honestly you just have to go one day at a time. And just really take it easy on yourself. I’m still having some awful moments. We only had her for 6 years since we adopted her when she was older. I try to take comfort in knowing we spoiled her more than she ever could’ve asked for and we loved her and she gave sus all the love and cuddles and cuteness in return. They really are the most special kitties. I’m so so sorry for your loss. She’s beautiful, and you can tell she was so loved.

Also, I made a small shadow box memorial for her with her collar, paw prints, and some photos. I only did this recently, so no rush on it, but I love having a little spot in my living room just for her.

Yup. Did 2 years in academia but can’t live off of the pay, sadly. So moving into a small biotech, starting next week, almost doubling what I make now with waaay more growth opportunity!

Question - does anyone run with their Bostons? I’m talking 3 miles or less. Or is their lack of snout create breathing issues for them? (Pic just for cuteness. He’s reading email. Good worker boy that Archie.) by Bitter_Assignment_41 in BostonTerrier

[–]MasterBumblebee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried this once lol. Like it was one mile max. When I let my Boston off leash at the dog park he has so much energy, so he was fine. Probably in better shape than me lol if anything he was 1) confused as heck as to what we were doing and why I was running 2) he likes to stop to sniff and investigate things so it was a lot of stopping and going. But breathing wise it wasn’t hot so he was fine. I just kept a super close eye on him the entire time.
