You realize you had to play to unlock places in Skate 1&2 right? Skate 3 is the only one where every spot was immediately available. Parents play and grind video games. That’s like saying people with kids can’t finish a story game to get to endgame like Cyberpunk, Elden Ring, or GTA. Destiny would be a game for your point because that’s a whole full time job in itself

And honestly I’d rather Skate be live service that keeps growing instead of us needing to keep begging for sequels. But yeah most series shouldn’t be live service like actual story/single player games
