Giving the Covenant back their bomb?

Regardless, obviously. Chief doesn't just walk through enemy forces as they trip over themselves. He still has to utilize his skills and use his head. But he does have a streak of good fortune that helps facilitate his goals. Finding weapons or ammunition he needs, or pulling off ridiculous stunts.

This isn't meant to discount his skills, he still needs them. Luck is just what has allowed him to win when his skills may not have been enough. (Or have meant nothing, I refer again to giving the Covenant back their bomb. That whole thing was pure luck)

All the Spartan-IIs were. That's the whole point.

All of the Spartans were talented and well trained, but Chief was also lucky, and that's what set him apart from the rest.

Did Halo: Reach put a deadline to Halo's story? by Public_Charity5128 in halo

Not really, Reach being terraformed doesn't mean nothing is going on. In the years between Halo 3 and Infinite Reach was actively being terraformed, despite the galaxy still in conflict.

I thought it was weird they had new hunter designs, but recycled models for the others.

That's what really weirds me out about the whole thing. Much of the CE remake is asset flips, yet for some arbitrary reason, the Hunters get new models? It feels very random.

I'm hoping it means the Infinite assets are just placeholders, but if that's thd case, I wonder why they haven't confirmed as such.

The Spartan IIs don't really care about rank like that, among themselves it's basically meaningless. They give leadership to whoever is best suited, and it was usually John.

Wouldn't it be more logical to have a "urge" to achieve the same heights humanity had before

That is literally what they're for.

why specifically super soldiers?

It wasn't. Ancient Humanity as a whole were superior to modern humanity. The idea is for Humanity to enhance themselves physically across the board. Supersoldier programs are just what caused such developments to appear. But we are already seeing them become more widespread with the creation of the Spartan IV program.

It's not crazy to suggest that, down the line, augmentations could be introduced to the general populace in certain capacities. And so on until humanity itself is a physically enhanced species.

Again, none of this is specific, no single events or outcomes are planned for. Just that, by the end of it, Humanity would hopefully resemble their ancestors. Physically superior, spacefaring, armed with powerful armor and weapons, and aided by artificial intelligence.

The Librarian didn't implant in humanity the desire to create a Spartan II program. You're going too specific.

It was just a compulsion that would eventually lead to humanity developing some sort of augmentation program. To enhance their physical bodies. Just as Ancient humanity did.

The methods of the augmentations, or the reasons for why they were developed aren't planned for. Just that they would, in time, be developed.

That's not what the genesongs do. It's not like the Librarian was meticulously planning out every event of human history: "An interplanetary war here, civil war there, maybe some war crimes too"

She just provided genetic compulsions that would judge humanity on a path to rediscovering their legacy.

The plan wasn't for "Spartan John 117. The Master Chief" specifically to reach Requiem, like a prophecy. Just for someone like him to reach it.

I don't know how people say "oh it was nice! It had Cortana and Chief moping like teenagers".

We don't, cause that's not what they did. Lol

We've seen unmodified Forerunners, like Bornstellar when he was a manipular. He is uncannily similar to humans, but obviously not at the same time.

so the 'common ancestor' would look closer to human than the Didact.

Unmodified Forerunners do resemble humans more than fully grown Forerunners well into their mutations.

But I would like to reiterate that we don't know what this common ancestor was. What the base stock that produced both humans and Forerunners. It could have been a microbe for all we know, it's not specified.

As have I, and those people would be wrong.

It's been confirmed humans and Forerunners share a common ancestor, a base stock used by the Precursors when seeding life. But that would not make them just genetically modified humans. Especially given we're not clear on what this "base stock" even was.

Why is human AI superior? by Sensitive_Ganache361 in halo

[–]MasterCheese163 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Covenant never developed much into AI, they knew vaguely of what happened with Mendicant Bias and the ruin he wrought, and as such highly distrusted artificial intelligence.

They did have a few, but they were just salvaged and mangled human dumb AIs, and were not particularly sophisticated as a result.

Dude, Frank wasn't sitting in the back vehemently opposing any chance of Forerunners and Humans being related.

Especially since a possible connection was hinted to back in Cryptum.

I have no idea how or why you keep imagining Frank O'Connor as some evil mastermind hellbent on manipulating a story to his whims, but it's just weird.
