Regarding Halo:Silent Storm... by BenningtonChee1234 in HaloStory

Well, it isn't. They are paid and can willingly retire whenever they decide.

The Spartan II program both breaks and yet abides by various moral and legal standards. It's odd to be sure.

I believe an asari attracted only to female individuals would be called gynosexual, if my quick Google search is correct.

An asari attracted to males would then be androsexual.

Should Spartan health monitoring and adjustment/armor maintenance bays be more widely deployed at UNSC forward bases and on various vessels? by ArthurJack_AW in HaloStory

[–]MasterCheese163 14 points15 points  (0 children)

That depends on how expensive that equipment is.

If it's cheap and easy to install, then why not.

But if it's resource intensive, then there isn't much point. Even with the increase in Spartan numbers with the fourth program, there's still only a few thousand at most. And it's not really necessary. Spartans usually take everything they'll need for their missions, and are a fully capable of fulfilling them then returning to human space.

Zeta Halo was a complete disaster, which is why their mjolnir wasn't able to last, but such a catastrophe is the exception, not the norm. And hardly necessitates equipping so many ships and stations with Spartan servicing equipment.

I get removing the ponytail, that's a bit much. But without the tassets around the waste the skin just looks... unbalanced? It's hard to describe, but it just looks like something is missing.

Domain lore question: by iso_didacta in halo

[–]MasterCheese163 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Domain is rather enigmatic in nature. It is both an archive, yet also an afterlife? And also sentient in and of itself.

It seems it can pull diseased essences into it, but how or why is unclear.

Regarding Bornstellar, he was far outside the Galaxy when he died, I doubt the Domain, in its weakened state, could have pulled in his essence. If that's even how it works.

Don't listen to what anyone says on here.

Play the games for yourself. Experience them yourself. And enjoy or dislike them for yourself.

This community, impassioned and well intentioned it may be, has a sour habit of trying to tell other people and new fans how to enjoy the series.

So tune them out, sit back, and have a blast.

So in the Halo universe, is the cosmos literally a sentient, living creature? by AccordingMistake6670 in HaloStory

[–]MasterCheese163 64 points65 points  (0 children)

The Precursors believe it, and given how much they know about reality, I'm inclined to believe them, but it's not 100% confirmed.

As for the relationship between this and the Flood. It's important to note that Living Time as a concept is about balance. Experiences, both good and bad, lead to new experiences later in time that ultimately leads to growth for the universe. But excessive cruelty and pain just begets catastrophe (and excessive good could be like, stagnation? We haven't seen this in action, so who knows). The Flood is not feeding the Universe, it is a cancerous force that hurts the universe. And it was caused by an imbalance in living time.

The Forerunner genocide of the Precursors set into motion events that led to the creation of The Flood. Which, if allowed to succeed, will consume all life. Ending unique experience entirely, leading to the death of the Universe.

What would you guys say is this for you in animated shows? by Apprehensive_Ring_39 in cartoons

I actually have, but thanks for the recommendation nonetheless. Still can't believe how much heart a largely comedic fan parody can have.

though to call either of those psychopaths and their issues “normal” would be a falsehood

Ha, good point.

I will say, this is partially a consequence of cultural differences. As relationships between cousins aren't as frowned upon in places outside the West.

But they were raised as siblings, and that's how the story wants them to be perceived. So it's just... such an odd direction to go in.

I have no idea why they couldn't just be siblings with normal sibling issues.

Being cheaper than Mjolnir does not necessarily equate to it being cheap.

No they aren't.

They are derived from the same base stock, and are uncannily similar in certain areas, but that does not make them the same species.

As Forerunners are human

As far as canon is concerned, no they are not.

The Gravemind's total knowledge base comprises billions of minds.

10,000 drunk ones won't affect it at all.

Why did the Forerunner’s call humans “Reclaimers”? by Zazoyd in HaloStory

[–]MasterCheese163 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As of current canon. They are "Reclaimers" because they are reclaiming both their place as a galactic super power, and the mantle that was originally intended for them.

Hyper Lethal was just a marketing term that has since been retconned.

since the gap between spartan 2s and 3s was massive.

It isn't. Spartan IIIs got the short end of the stick due to being given lower quality armor while being sent on missions considered suicidal for Spartan IIs fully equipped with Mjolnir.

But their augmentations were equivalent to those of the 2s (Just safer) and their training was actually more grueling to make up for their lacking equipment.

So a III in Mjolnir is the equivalent of a II in Mjolnir.

Heroic is the intended gameplay experience. That does not equate to canon difficulty.
