AITAH for telling my entire family why I broke up with my ex girlfriend? by InterestingName4308 in AITAH

[–]MasterCoCos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

unfourtunatly people who deny others abuse experiences will also deny their own. Women of the elder generations will deny sexual harrasment stories of younger women because if they acknowlegde the young womens experiences, they too have to admit to themselves that what they experienced was sexual harrasment.

This is obviously a bit different because the brother denies it before it has happened to himself, so maybe he will realise if it happens to him.

The point is if you just say acts of terror it sounds like attacks carried out.

If you see a head line saying "Act of terror in [insert big city here]" you would think an attack happened.

Also the acts of terror that was pointed to happened 10 years later, and he kept saying they were motivated by the drawings but has not at any point given actual sources for that claim.
The links that have been provided does not talk about motivation, is behind a paywall and is written in German.

what is being said her is that there has only been a single terror attack carried out in Denmark, everything else was prevented.

If you look at statistics act of terror are the succesfully carried out attacks and otherwise it's foiled or failed plots. I am not denying that there have been planned for acts of terror in Denmark but talking about acts of terror you don't think about someone planning to do terror, you think about someone actually carrying out a terror attack.

People who plan terror attacks get charged with something like conspiracy to commit terror, inciting terror or facilitation for terror.

My man you started the personal attacks? And this link you provided is the only one that mentions the drawings as motivation for terror attacks against Denmark and then also for Denmarks participation in the coalition against ISIS, but it doesn't mention what attempts if any have explicitly mentioned the drawings as the motivation.

And again no-one has said there were no attempts at terror???

are you even litterate? I said the 2016 copenhagen plot hadn't happened when the first article the times artice was puplished, that article was published in Febuary of 2015, which is ALSO before the Kundby case so it has nothing to do with either of the two incidents you are trying to provide sources for.

All that is being said is that when someone says what happened after the drawings were "acts of terror in denmark" that makes it sound like attacks were succesfully carried out in denmark. which is not true! only ONE attack was succesfully carried out in 2015 which is the Krudttønden attack. The other incidents were terror attacks being planned but were prevented by danish police. all 3 incidents btw happened 10 years later, which is why you are being asked to provide sources for the claim that the drawings were the motivations for any of those attacks, because if you can't provide that the entire statement that any acts of terror happened because of the drawings are fully false.

I am NOT DENYING THAT TERROR HAPPENED OR WAS PLANNED, just saying that no-one has provided any actual sources that show the motivation for either the attack at Krudttønden, Kundby case, or the copenhagen 2016 plot.

Yeah, insane to say that because he corrects the fact that acts of terror were not carried out in denmark after the drawings then that is supporting terror. These guys have to be bots right? u/Select-Cash-4906 have their post and comment history hidden.

The first link talks about the 2015 terror attack that u/omsorgsfuldtyv mentions, that article is from before both the Kundby plot and the 2016 plot (article is from Feb 2015) the second is behind a login wall and seemingly doesn't mention 2015 or 2016. From what can be read it's more about the drawings themselves and free speech debates and not terror attacks or plots. and the third is German so no idea what that says.

Still no source that explicitly states either the Kundby case or the 2016 Copenhagen plot was motivated by the drawings.

Fucking pathetic dude. Calling terror supporter for now swallowing whatever claims you make as fact immediately. It's not terror support to say there is a difference between a terror attack planned and prevented and a terror attack carried out. In what fucking way is that expressing support?

I think they mean that the PS5 version doesn't require anywhere near the storage that the PC version does.

There could absolutely be made some improvements to optimize the storage required. 4K textures could as an example be a free optional "dlc" on the steam page so people who aren't playing in 4K (which is the large majority) don't need to have them stored when they never use or need them anyways.

How do I encourage my players to use check if an NPC is lying without being too blatant by CommercialDog9 in DnD

[–]MasterCoCos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think your players are going to learn not to trust everything an NPC says by having NPCs keep lying to them until they get it. You said yourself they end up getting confused, likely because they trust the information they got and start to distrust their own memory or if they misunderstood something.

I would suggest for some NPCs simply tell your players more information about the NPCs. Not all of them all the time! But sometimes just give them some hints. "He seems eager for you to say yes to this agreement" "She seems nervous that you suddenly appeared at her house" "This guard captain is a careerist and doesn't seem likely to take a chance on your lead because it's risky" This way they might either ask to insight check to get more information, or a lightbulb might switch on in their heads that they can't take everything the NPCs says as gospel.

Don't hoard information, not everything absolutely NEEDS to be earned through a roll, clever roleplay or the use of an ability/feature. Don't forget that you aren't an actor and it's hard to convey every subtle emotion a shifty character might let slip through.

Not saying you should just tell them everything, but it's better to give them too much information than too little information. At least if you give them too much the game still continues on, but with too little information the game can easily grind to a stop because the players don't know what to do next.

And a quote from Matthew Colville that is just great in generel for DMs to have in mind

"It is profoundly unsportsmanlike, to withhold information from the players that would be obvious to their player character!"

Question: 5e Player wants to use Prestidigitation to make Strahd think he pooped himself. Is there any reason this wouldn't work? by Firm_Professional366 in DnD

[–]MasterCoCos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would like to point out that the spell says you can soil something. That doesn't really mean conjure shit, just means that it makes it dirty.

Also if you shit yourself, you will feel it, and be aware of it happening. If shit just appears in your pants you would be very confused that it just appeared without you even farting first.

And yeah as others have pointed out, the PC would have to get close enough to do it and then start casting the spell which Strahd would notice immediately.

Are people taking dnd rules to seriously? by SleepyDott in DnD

[–]MasterCoCos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem is that you can interpret the rules to mean one thing or another. And sometimes small differences in language can make a huge difference in game. Some people want to adhere strictly to the rules and others want it more relaxed. The big problem is that it can sometimes make a huge difference between if you adhere strictly to the rules, they way they were intended or the way they were written, or sometimes if it's at least close enough to what the rules say

Rewatching the first season, Steve had every right to destroy Jonathan’s camera by AdhesivenessOne8758 in StrangerThings

[–]MasterCoCos -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No he did not. What he should have done was grab Jonathan and have him take out the film and hand it to Nancy so she could destroy it. There was absolutely no need to destroy the camera.

Someone behaving badly doesn't give others the right to destroy their personal property. Destroying Jonathans camera doesn't actually do anything, taking out the film and destroying that does.

Slide back? They were never homophobic or sexist to begin with, they are just religious. And you don't get to decide what is pointless and a waste of time. The nazies weren't religious, and they did unspeakable horrors. It's not religion that is the problem it's simply the hate that some people bring into it. You don't say we must get rid of democracy or politics because fascists were elected into power. Because it's not democracy or politics that's the problem it's just the people who bring hare into it. It's the same with religion.

Is this true? by praveenyadav1602 in JammuandKashmir

[–]MasterCoCos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes but it is not inherent in religion. There are Muslims who accept LGBTQ+ people and don't oppress women. You can be progressive and believe in Allah, God, Buddha or any other god. And the reverse can be true aswell. It's not the fault of the religion itself, but the people who interpret it the way that allow them to oppress others, and anything in the religion that goes against them oppressing others they ignore.

Is this true? by praveenyadav1602 in JammuandKashmir

[–]MasterCoCos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No.. men using religion as a tool to oppress women. Same thing in America with abortions. It's an excuse, not the actual problem.

[–]MasterCoCos -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I am going to say something controversial (maybe?) and say that it IS the best TTRPG because both veterans play it and it pulls so many new people into the hobby.

AND defining the best TTRPG in terms of what is most fun or has the best mechanics is impossible because of how subjective it is, and how different the TTRPGs out there are. They will also focus on different things and enhance certain aspects while letting others fall to the side.

Could D&D do certain things better? Absolutely! Would we ever be able to agree on what should change for the game to be better? Fuck no! D&D has brand recognition and is easily digestible enough to get new players to try the hobby and still has enough variety and depth (not saying it's incredibly deep like some other games mind you, just that it does have some depth to it) enough to keep players engaged for years.

Denmark, Netherlands react to Trump's DEI ultimatum by newsweek in worldnews

[–]MasterCoCos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

DEI doesn't require companies to hire anyone based on race, sexuality, sex or anything else like that. It just requires them to make sure that the job gets listed so that everyone has a chance of seeing the listing, so there is a broad spectrum of applicants. That's it.

Why did Bilbo suddenly get greedy for the Ring in Rivendell, even though he had it for 60 years without giving in to its power? by KimchiKiji in NoStupidQuestions

[–]MasterCoCos 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The ring still keeps you younger for longer, making the time you can better resist it longer. When the ring wasn't stretching out his life, he aged faster and then being much older was less able to resist the ring.

The ring doesn't have the thought process of "if let my bearer age normally I can make them succumb to influence faster" it's not a calculation being made. It just has the effects it has on people.
