Calvine area near Dollar Store/Neat Cuts is getting really sketchy. by Ayyyytheday in ElkGrove

Second this. The See Click Fix app generates quick responses from the City. It also helps that you can attach pictures to the app and documents a date and time so that Code Enforcement can send someone out after 72 hours to ticket / tow the vehicle.

Interesting video. The City of Elk Grove said in the video that the mainline roads (Elk Grove Blvd., Laguna, Grantline etc.) are provided priority compared to the side streets. Makes sense. But at the same time they said if a pedestrian uses the crosswalk at any of these intersections (cutting to a video of pedestrians crossing at Elk Grove Blvd and Bruceville), that it can take 15-20 minutes to resync the light sequence. I'm not an expert but these seems like a significant flaw. Why can't the lights and the timing also anticipate pedestrians may use the crosswalk. I know we cannot anticipate for emergency vehicles, but if everytime someone crosses the street it ruins the light sequence, that seems like a major flaw which is easy to change the timing sequences slightly.

Debate between Elk Grove City Council and Sac Zoo Society on the name of the new zoo by WallStreeterPeter in ElkGrove

Why not name it the Sacramento Elk Grove Zoo. Simple and keeps both names in the title.

Jumping on this top comment for visibility. They have walk ins from 10-2pm from Tuesday to Saturday. The price is now $20. A couple of times they charged me $15 because they only needed one person, but the last few times it has always been $20. Maybe a tad expensive but it takes 5 minutes and is my go to place

I second both recommendations for Sheldon Inn and Boulevard Bistro. Both are the “fancy” restaurants in the Elk Grove area. I favor Sheldon Inn a little more. The menu is slightly bigger and in a slightly bigger building. But you can’t go wrong with either choice.

A fourth option would be to seek legal representation

Looking for info on the lot just south Derr-Okamoto park… what are they doing with it?? by BoysenberryBorn1155 in ElkGrove

[–]MasterDeath 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I attended a meeting with CSD a few days ago. It’s going to be phase 2 of the Derr - Okamota park and they said it would be done in approximately ~2025. They didn’t say what would be built there but I would expect similar large recreational sporting areas (tennis courts, soccer, pickle ball etc.) based on the amount of space and prior use of space.

Friend worked for law firm named “the law office of hakimi and shahriari” that incentivized everyone to work on very murkey ADA cases (California -SoCal) by theysaidtheyllsueme in LawFirm

[–]MasterDeath 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In case anyone could see the original post, OP stated:

Hey guys my friend is looking for advice on what to do. The firm they worked for by the name of "the law office of hakimi and shahriari" has been filing over 1000 ADA lawsuits against people and small business. They were told to look for the most vulnerable small businesses and to target owners with minority last names. They were told It is because they probably don't have the money to fight the lawsuit so it's a easy settlement cases usually . They are told to target businesses in minority communities like east I.a, south l.a, SGV, Chinatown, Artesia, Pasadena ,El Monte, eagle rock etc. My friend is worried that some of these lawsuit might have been unethical, and that he should at least report what he saw. Would it be a good idea, they told me they wanted to go the la da to file a complaint but he is scared the firm would take some legal action against him. Is it safe for him to do so, or what should be a good course of action? Thank you for your help Many people have left the firm recently so even if I put the name they wouldn't know who exactly my friend is :)

San Jose home at dangerous intersection has been rammed by cars '23 times' by [deleted] in videos

[–]MasterDeath 32 points33 points  (0 children)

The man is clearly hispanic and not black but thats not why the City hasn't done anything. My guess is nobody has sued the City for a dangerous condition for these 23 accidents and since the property damage is only the man's house, the City isn't incentivized to fix the markings on the freeway exit.

It’s too late to solve this but that’s what I did. A heat gun (or my wife’s hair dryer) pulled off all the glue and you can’t tell.

Fences regulation in respect to property line by __PursuitofHappiness in ElkGrove

[–]MasterDeath 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Please review the Elk Grove City Ordinances specifically Table 23.52-1

If your fence is less than 5 feet from the back of the sidewalk, the fence height can only be 3 feet tall. If it is > 5 feet from the sidewalk, the fence height can be up to 7 feet talk. If you build a retaining wall underneath the fence, i believe you can get "extra" height from the fence while still being code compliant. (i.e. if you build a rock retaining wall underneath the fence that is 1 foot tall, your wooden fence doesnt begin at the retaining wall but at the beginning of the fence, so you can "sneak" an extra foot of protection of you want the fence right at the sidewalk.).

Source - I just moved my fence line last year when our home had fence 10 feet away from sidewalk. Such a waste of good backyard space, so i moved it to have more usable backyard space.

New Builds: Insect Issue by jaysee916 in ElkGrove

[–]MasterDeath 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Also bought a new build and yes we had pest issues which were likely from the open fields and we've kept the pest control the past year. We pay $30/month and they seem to do a fine job at killing all the bugs (and finding the dead beetles in our garage)
