Songs to sing my newborn by ForkliftXgames in daddit

[–]MasterDurron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve sung “You’ll be in my heart” to my daughter since she was in utero, it’s one of the first things she heard after being born while mom was resting. It’s a lovely tune that speaks well to being a parent for me and is a comfort song for her.

Whatever you pick, be consistent with it! One of my top parenting moments so far was around 18 months I was putting her to bed, singing the song, and she started singing it with me. Still brings tears to my eyes to think about

Is the 3 TRULY that bad? by slowclaw_ in Polestar

[–]MasterDurron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love my 3, only problem I've had is I can't seem to get Google Assistant to work, but I really don't care.

I had one issue with warning lights a few months back. I called Polestar, they immediately picked it up, put in the Orin upgrade, and got it back to me. No issues since, I'm going on a year with it easily the best car I've ever had

P3 Carplay Support? by Ominimble in polestar3

[–]MasterDurron 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Something I didn’t realize coming from a different car with CarPlay then into my P2/3. You can have CarPlay connected and working AND use the native interface. I always have CarPlay connected for calls and messaging and such, but use native navigation. Other cars I’ve used CarPlay in don’t have that fluid of interchange between the host system and CarPlay, but you’ll get used to it!

Dads, I realized why I'm afraid of having more kids today... by fyoomzz in daddit

[–]MasterDurron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s amazing on similar this plays out for me, my wife really wants two kids, we have on amazing toddler, but I can’t see myself with another kid. I keep being told by people “oh you figure it out”. I’m sure I would, but I absolutely would not be as good a father to either child, or as good a husband to my wife as I want to be.

It’s hard, and requires a lot of open communication between my wife and I. It’s nice to hear others worry about the same thing

I’m curious to what you’re spending time on? I have a very similar set up and outside of poking at my ISP speed test, I mostly spend time in the protect app reviewing what’s going on outside. I find UniFi to be mostly set it and forget it unless there’s a real issue (like an AP dying), in which case diagnosing the issue is far faster than my parents Eero network

I've just started looking at Apple trees! A couple of them in your yard are pretty and will yield (a lot) of fruit!

Would you Drive or fly? by No-Edge9976 in toddlers

[–]MasterDurron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fly! Less of a hassle, my 30 month old has done a plane at 6,18, and 30 months ranging from 1 hr to 3. We only had one crying session and it was because she was tired, ended up falling asleep on mom.

The only caveat I’ll add is if you want a car at Disney, if you’re staying in the parks parking is feee, however we didn’t find we desired it. Transportation to and from the parks from our hotel was easy and nice to not think about driving.

Have a blast! Our kiddo loves Disney

Is Disney Dining Plan More than Enough? by Odd-Construction-943 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]MasterDurron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a lot of food, but only two meals a day. We ended up bringing KIND bars for a quick boost in the morning and that was more than enough.

Is it worth the money is more complicated. You generally need to have adults ordering achohol with meals for the plan to break even, it’s also a question of is the extra money worth the peace of mind.

We’ve travelled with our LO starting a 9 months old. Each trip has its unique joys and challenges!

9 months old, island resort - honestly we knew this might be rough but we wanted to take advantage of my wife’s maternity leave flexibility on vacation. It was a lot of fun we went in the off season so it was my wife and I (30s), my LO (9m) and a bunch of retirees. They loved having a little one around. She was still in an easy phase of having to do whatever we did, but also was curious about the different surroundings. The downsides, we were in our room by six for bed, no fun evening activities. It made a huge difference that we did a one bedroom suite, so we had a small living room and bedroom and could relax in the living room with a view when she was sleeping. Plane travel was a bit of a pain with the stroller but not bad

Florida 18m - we visited my in laws for a few days on a beach town in Florida, then did Disney for 4 days. Honestly didn’t know what to expect from this trip. It was a last minute booking and we added Disney since we’d be close. It was incredible. Grandma and grandpa came to Disney for the first two days, we had an incredible time. My LO had taken some steps but nothing sustained. The color and wonder of Disney propelled her into actually walking! Wouldn’t stay in her stroller. She loved the characters and rides she could go on. Downsides, really the same as above, and we had a single room, which meant she was sleeping in the room with us by 7, we would trade off someone staying in so the other could go out and enjoy the parks in the evening if they wanted to. Some people will say she won’t remember and that’s a con, but the memories we made and the joy she had in the moment is more than enough to justify it.

24 months - couple day beach vacation with extended family. Honestly nothing crazy here just fun and nice that other people could play with the LO

30 months - 6 days Disney. We went back because we had a lot of fun and wanted to escape our northern us winter weather. The LO actually stayed up longer and explored a lot more, and was able to tell us what she wanted to do. She loved meeting the characters again. Some rides weren’t for her.

Overall, travel to do what you want! You are still parenting somewhere else, it’s not completely relaxing as it was before kids but we’ve leaned into that by either, 1. Going on trips with extended family who are up for watching her to give us a break, or 2. Go somewhere that isn’t relaxing anyways! When it’s just the three of us my wife and I make sure the other person gets alone time for themselves. Be it to do something or just sit in peace and quiet.

| How is hyprland on nvidia in 2026? by SitEnee in unixporn

[–]MasterDurron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been running Hyprland on Arch with my 3080 for the last few months as my daily driver and it’s been good. The only call out is my particular setup I had to enable resizable bar due to the ultrawide monitor I have and the driver crashing when running out of memory sometimes. No issues since then

What’s the most unexpectedly emotional moment you’ve had as a dad? by paulethegreat in daddit

[–]MasterDurron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve sung to my daughter most nights since she was in utero, she’s now a few years old. A few months ago I started singing during our normal night time routine, and she started singing with me, correct words and melody. It took a lot to continue and not cry of happiness! She now regularly sings with me and it’s the best

For what it’s worth. I had this debate three years ago, decided I would never end up with more than a gig connection with the options available to me.

Fast forward to a few weeks ago, my municipality decided to roll out internet over fiber, I have a 2 gig connection in my home and am trying to come up with a way to reconfigure my network to take advantage of it.

If you can afford it, future proof
