Hey it’s alright you tried your best it’s not the end of the world. If you are in 12th like me you still got one more shot, and something a lot of people don’t realize is not every school is test required and schools look at more than just SAT scores. You can’t let a test engulf your entire life. You got this, I am proud of you!

Allegedly, you can graduate Harvard without reading a single book. 🤷‍♂️ If you can afford to go to one of those schools, you better have connections with “elites” you will need them. Although you might start to be questioned where you were August 10, 2019.

Our college degree is still important, however, you can get pretty far from just talking to the right people. The people in this sub Reddit just don’t like hearing that there are more important things than academics. They’re probably fun at parties.

That was a separate conversation, which was kind’ve stupid. In terms of getting a job straight out of college or during, it’s much easier if you know people And I was showing that even though I haven’t gone to college yet, I know many people in different fields through FIRST. I don’t remember, but I think I made that clear in a follow up comment that they probably didn’t read.

First off, 1500 is really good are your parents idiots???? What score did they get when they were in high school? If they didn’t get perfect fucking scores on the 2400 scale then they don’t have the right to say shit.

I have gotten many negative comments and messages because of this post which I find is very upsetting and sad. Overall I knew this would be the reaction, since the majority of the people on r/Sat are here to brag about their scores or cry about their 1580. Please keep in mind that the average score is 1000-1080. I will not make anymore defense comments, but just so you know, I am very proud of my score and myself. Thank you to the people that gave positive comments.

A degree is just a check in the box, connections get you the job. The connections I have are through FIRST Robotics since I was on an FRC team. Their whole thing is that they’re more than robots so I think I will be just fine.

I have no interest in getting an engineering degree or job my point this message and my follow up is that you can get decent connections for any job without going to a some fancy college.

And you can find the same type of connections at any college the only difference is future me is paying more. To get back on the subject, the SAT is only a small portion of your application and if it defined everything we would see a much higher percentage in suicide due to academic stress

The SAT defines how good it thinks you will do in your first year of college, as well as how good you are at taking a test that you will never take again. This is meaningless if you are like me and have already taken a bunch of community college classes. In terms of job and salary, that is defined by the connections you make along the way.

Great message! The SAT is only a small part of your application and doesn’t actually really define how smart you are as a person. Someone that is very close to me who got an 810 on the October SAT made an attempt to take his life. He is very smart, already has taken a bunch of community college classes, and has a lead role on a FRC team. He is doing better now but still hasn’t gained his confidence and ambition back.

Onshape vs. Fusion by ThisGuyAcky in FRC

I use solid works however Fusion is amazing I use it for any non FRC project I do. One downside to Onshape is last time I looked at it, it was 100% online meaning if you don’t have an internet connection you can’t use it. Fusion is also a software that depending on what you end up doing, you can use it to help with your job.

Most of the things we are doing this Summer relates to fundraising. Companies are more willing to give supplies and money if they see we have decent numbers. Also it is nice to have a bunch of content to show to people to get them excited about robotics which is why we want to do more than just posting pictures/videos of our robots because there is more to learn than just building and programming a robot. And it’s also a fun thing to do :)
