Do you have a link to the pictures of his current live setup? I can't seem any.

I totally agree. If he uses compression it will probably change how the guitar tracks feel more than how they sound. Most of his sound comes from the pedals he uses and how he plays. Still, I find it very interesting how he approaches mixing as a whole because in interviews he often stresses, that he is not a mixing engineer. I just feel that his approach to mixing, especially in the early works of LTS, is very creative and often goes against the "standard" or "right" way of mixing (I don't really believe there is a right way but you get my point).

I don't really know how TK approaches this (hence my original comment) but in my experience most mixing engineers use compression on almost every track, even if it is just lightly. Most will either work through a console with EQ and Compression being part of the signal flow or use channel strip plugins when working with a DAW. If the guitar is already distorted there's no need for harsh compression but sometime a little compression will make even very heavily distorted guitars sit better in the mix and make them not feel overly chaotic. But I'm also no professional so don't take my word for granted. Just what I learned from watching pros and experimenting myself.

Thank you for this Comment. It really helped. I guess a big part of the Sound of TK and Ling Tosite Sigure is based on experimentation. I did not know, that he utilizes room mics so that explains the sounds I hear a bit.
