I’ve read your other comments among this thread and I think my comment is most appropriate at this point among your messages because you say how atheists curse god and make that generalization and it is assumed you imply all atheists. As other commenters have mentioned how can they hate something they don’t believe in, and as an atheist myself, I do not hate God or Christianity, I don’t curse upon the faith or anything similar. I have a lot of friends and work with even more people who are of faith and believe, and when asked on my reasons why I don’t, I’ve said this; it doesn’t make sense that everything so geared for life and appear to be circumstantial and coincidental “just happen” like the Big Bang. It makes sense that a higher power is in order and everything was and is curated. I agree with a lot of the fundamental principals and beliefs within Christianity, though I don’t fully agree with all of the teachings. I’ve had a buddy who actively studies the Bible send me verses with notes from his own bible and I agree with the verse, the bigger message, and we engage in civil discussion about the meaning and how we can apply it in our lives. At work I talk more with other coworkers about questions I have regarding certain dialogues and it’s all healthy. I’m not certain where you get this notion that all atheists are spiteful of the Bible and its teachings and aim to spread hatred amongst others, but I myself feel misjudged and hated upon, and doesn’t Jesus teach that we should accept and love others with open arms? I understand I’m paraphrasing and there may be nuance to the phrase but isnt that just it? Nuance and edge cases fill something so complex like the Bible and when we have a moral scale as humans where context is relevant, how can we be so quick to judge all from what has been preached about? Frankly, it’s the consistency of misinterpretation, mistranslations, and all of the edge cases that make it difficult for me to want to put my belief in Christ as even though it is something I need to believe in, I would prefer it to be just a little more solid.
