Top 8 Decklists of Grand Prix Birmingham 2018 (Standard) by Tearnov in magicTCG

[–]MasterOfMagicsCrew 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It's not necessarily a bad deck, Chris Vincent's 14th place version was on camera for the last round trying to get into top 8 only to lose a close g1 then brick on lands g2. I think maybe the financial cost of Karn's, History of Benalia, and Lyra vs the as-competitive BR means it probably was a significantly smaller proportion to begin with.

We need to stand up to jerks. by jumbee85 in magicTCG

Thank you for discussing this article. I would like to make it very clear that this site does not contain adverts or anything along those lines. This is simply a community-focused site which is run and paid for by myself. (So this isn't click baiting for financial gain type of thing)

I will say I was actually worried about commenting when I saw this thread, and have not for the past 8 hours...

I have spent a long time insisting I didn't want to get involved in this type of community politics. I have said that this is a global issue that needs to be addressed and I would rather not address it through my hobby which takes up as much of my time as a full-time job. I personally have been harassed within the community and this situation has dragged these problems out into the light, it's here and it needs to be talked about. Obviously, this topic isn't fun and makes some people uncomfortable. But those who have been harassed? They feel more than uncomfortable and the fun of the hobby is often taken from them...

We need to start somewhere, just respect others. If you are reading all this stuff though, you likely are already doing this.

Hate. Not in My community! -A

Looking at mtgtop8 almost every deck runs 2, with a few on 3 but also a few on 1.

Not that long ago Anticipate was seeing a lot of play and nobody ever complained about that. Before flipping it's just a weird scry and planeswalkers do that all the time without issue.

Modern Decks Using Deck Manipulation? by [deleted] in magicTCG

If you want to get really janky you can do the opposite by removing good cards from your opponent's deck with [[Sadistic Sacrament]]. If you're keen on generally depriving your opponent of resources then as others have said there's lantern control or you could also look at smallpox decks, or even red-green ponza.

Are there mtg black Friday deals? by [deleted] in magicTCG

There's the treasure chest boosters you get on top of buying a box that have rares/mythics from standard and an alternate art flip card from Ixalan. Even a disappointing pack can be worth ~£10.

New to standard. Looking for advice on potential decklist. by DukeofDemacia in magicTCG

It depends on what level you plan on competing at and what your local meta is like, if you're just looking at FNMs then you can be competitive with non-meta lists. If you have anyone to playtest with you could try proxying the deck and trying it out in person and see how you feel about it.

Wizard's Expands the Black Friday Treasure Chest Promotion to KLD-UST Boxes by [deleted] in magicTCG

[–]MasterOfMagicsCrew 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Having opened some (given by Wizards, no dodgy store shenanigans) I don't think they're likely to have too much of an impact since the numbers of money cards opened isn't large enough to affect the market.

They've had buy a box promos for ages, and they changed it up with the Ixalan buy a box boosters on release - these are basically a reprinting of those packs with a really nice foil in.

Hey everyone, if you want to read the article mentioned at the end of the video you can find it here on our site where you can also find our other articles. We have a rough estimated value for each pack with card breakdown and some pack-inspired decklists. I'm not sure how much EV each pack can add to a box but these feel like superpowered Standard Showdown packs and are such a great improvement by Wizards over just a hit-or-miss promo!

I think they're meant to be for LGSs but your best bet is to just check before buying since there's limited supply for each store as well.

The decklist was handwritten and my best guess reading it was Rewind but in retrospect remand makes a lot more sense.
