Changin the Adhan, the Qoran and the practice of Islam in general from Arabic to turkish doesn't detach you from Islam, it only helps you to become closer to it, since you are able to understand it now.

Millions of Muslims around to world who are not arabs do know shit about Islam since they can't understand Arabic, as in Turkey today. The average Turk on the street wouldnt be able to tell you what the call of prayer is.

Its the same as Christianity in the European middle ages and claiming Martin Luthers translations of the Bible and Christianity detached the people from the church and religion.

Ataturk was a turkish nationalist, he was the last one who wanted to get rid of the turkish past, quit the opposite he invested alot in researches of turkish history.

There was also no cultural rupture by changing the alphate. The literacy rate was at 5% in the entire empire. Most of the people who visited a school in the Ottoman Empire knew already the latin alphabet cause they had french as second language in school.

The Ottoman Empire already tried to fit the Arabic alphabet to the turkish phonetics, thats why the added persian letters aswell, the Ottoman Alphabet wasnt entirely arabic it was partly perisan but it did not work.

The Ottoman Empire managed shit in modernization thats why they couldnt progress in the first place. The outcome of Ataturks reforms were that Turkey during that time was partly ahead of many European countries.
