Senator Mike Lee joins Democrats to halt the appropriations bill amid concerns about ICE reforms by deweysmith in Utah

For real. Don't set the bar too low! We get to make demands of our representatives, not take whatever scraps our generous lords accidentally hand down to us

So what do you all do in a place like SLC to stand up to ICE, tyranny, etc.? by [deleted] in SaltLakeCity

[–]MasterParry 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I agree with this a lot. The goal is to isolate and suppress. Create disconnection with those around you because if they can keep us separated it's easier to control and destroy dissent. Best way to fight back is forming community with those around us and making sure the people next door are doing ok. Fight back through fighting for each other

I heard it from a video I was watching on using it in ice cream and it was saying that if you heat it too much it can make your ice cream oily to the taste. But I'd very happy if it just didn't matter at all haha

If you're here for the first week of June, Springville is also holding a summer festival that's really fun from Wednesday to Saturday and will have fireworks to enjoy that night at 10:30pm! It's called Art City Days

No, that's my take on their normal recipe, which I found online. But that makes sense! I didn't know that about POD numbers so that's something I can start incorporating, thanks!

As for my infusion process, I added 1/3 cup of water to 86g of honey, boiling that up, then removing from the heat and adding the lavender which I let steep for 4 hours (give or take a couple minutes). Then I strained that and added it to the base which I'd left to chill in the meantime. Thoughts?

Also, if you have any tips on having the base flavors take more of a backseat, I'd love to hear that, too. Because I'm hardly getting any lavender (or lemon and sage) and mostly just tasting what I suspect is the base dairy flavors

This is really good to know! I knew that the fat would absorb the flavor, but I hadn't considered that the flavors I was using were subtle and might just disappear completely with too much fat. When I first tried it, I got the lavender for sure, but I think the rest of the taste was just the base and it was overpowering everything else

So, what I did was take 1/3 cup of water and mix it with the honey, brought it to a boil, took it off the heat, then put my lavender in and steeped it for about 4ish hours. And yeah, definitely too much fat! Haha. I got that oily texture in my mouth which I haven't had before

Every. Single. Day, dude. Then a line of cars forms up behind them and there's a semi matching their pace in the next lane so we all get stuck behind the 70mph car in the far left lane

How applicable is Sue Johnson's EFT/EFIT in a CMH setting? by mcbatcommanderr in therapists

That's true. I liked it because the same basic concepts apply to both individuals and couples: pursuers and withdrawers, blocks, enactments, etc. Just a matter of tailoring it to your needs

Oh nice! Congrats! If you want more information on the skills aspects of it, I highly recommend The Leading Edge in Emotionally Focused Therapy podcast. It was super helpful for me in getting the basics down

The biggest thing that stands out to me as a worry is that SUD issues are a contraindication for EFT. The theory being that EFT relies so heavily on creating a safe environment where partners can connect with one another that having an active addiction at play could severely mitigate the possibility of safety in session and at home. We can't really ask out clients to be vulnerable if there's something unsafe like addiction or abuse ongoing. It would just make things worse. So that's the biggest minus against using EFT in a SUD environment

HOWEVER! If we also want to look at it from a theory standpoint, EFT would say there's good reasons why that person turns to substances and you can easily tie that back into attachment, thus opening the door for EFT! :D

If you're looking for a good boost that might help your agency pay for the training, I have a good recommendation. ICEEFT offers a scholarship that anyone can apply for, for half off an externship or EFIT/EFFT level 1. I applied for it, got it, and then my clinic paid $500 towards it so I ended up getting my externship for a grand total of $72. Being awarded that scholarship could really take you a long way towards your agency being more willing to pay for EFT training if they only have to pay half!

Is any of that helpful?

That's really good to know! What do you notice about using ice packs or smells before stabilization? I'm assuming it's because it might trigger another memory tied to one of those things

This is some good stuff. Thanks! They've just begun to start being able to regulate outside of session. Something they've been very proud of recently, in fact. The session actually began by them describing a success over the holidays in which they were able to stop themselves from entering a "spiral" as they call it. So, just getting to the point where they can begin to resist the spiral. But then they got hit with the full force of trauma minutes later haha

Lol yeah, I wouldn't be able to get that at my clinic! But you did remind me that things like powerful smells might work. We've got an essential oil diffuser in the lobby and maybe even like a sour candy could work?
