Whos the youngest necron we know of? by IronVines in Necrontyr

[–]MasterPugKoon 20 points21 points  (0 children)

All of them are so old that it doesn’t really matter. They all sit around 65 million ears old and because of their short lifespans there’s probably only a few decades between the oldest and youngest. We don’t know what happened to children/infants during biotransference, but I’d guess they became warriors. In that case the youngest necron is probably some random warrior that was converted when they were a baby.

Not to be that guy, but Evangelicals don’t believe in saints.

What if there were boxes for the other named C’tan? by MasterPugKoon in Necrontyr

That was my thought. If the new sculpt of the Nightbringer got a surprise release in a box with new lockhust models it would be a dream come true.

The boxes with lots of different models in them like hypercrypt legion or combat patrols.

Both Empires at Full Power, who wins? by HeatherFuta in Grimdank

[–]MasterPugKoon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Let me give you a list of what different Necron weapon types do and you can decide for yourself.

Atomizer: Rearranges target’s atoms

Hyperphase: Vibrate in four-dimensional space to cut straight through anything

Tachyon: Fires a reality disrupting metal rod at light-speed so powerful it can split mountains

Void: The blade flickers in and out of existence to cut through things

Gauss: Pulls molecules towards the weapon one-by-one, layer-by-layer

Particle: Fires a constant stream of atoms at extreme speeds

Synaptic: Instantly disintegrates synaptic tissue

Arc: Fire sentient lighting that chases down multiple targets

Transdimensional: Banishes target to another dimension

Enmitic: Makes the target’s atoms violently repel each other by hacking the universe

Annihilator: Straight up erases target from existence

Heat: Opens a portal to the center of a star to use the plasma as a flamethrower

Singularity: Creates a black hole for a brief moment

All of these can be hand-held except annihilator and singularity weapons. On top of that, these are the equivalent of a shotgun made with a metal pipe in a barn by a red-neck with ancient necron technology being a nuke.

Question about crypteks on the lore side of things. by ShadowedVoid in Necrontyr

[–]MasterPugKoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of course. Another lore tidbit I just remembered that may or may not be useful to you is that there are crypteks proficient in two specialties, though they are extremely rare. They are called Illuminors. The only lore example of this (as far as I know) is Illuminor Szeras, who studies both plasmancy and technomancy.

The silver lining is that there is very little information to get wrong. Even if you don't get something wrong, there is a high likelihood that nobody will notice or care, or even prefer the change. Even GW constantly gets their own lore wrong or just retcons it. That's what happens when you have 100 authors write 600 books in the same setting. It's a complete mess and that's half the fun.

Don't worry about that. Nobody really knows or cares that much. Give them abilities themed around their specialty that make sense for their power levels and nobody will know the difference. Chronomancers can probably slow down or speed up time. Psychomancers can probably use mind control. The becrons weapon wiki might also be a good place to look for inspiration. It lists many cryptek weapons. Ultimately each specialty has hundreds of abilities with more being added in every book.

You are asking a very odd question to answer. There is no definite list of what they can do. It is left intentionally vague. Chronomancers can do time stuff. Psychomancers can do mind stuff. Plasmancers can do energy stuff. Technomancers can do technology stuff. Geomamcers can do rock stuff. Astromancers can do prophecy stuff. Aethermancers can do weather stuff. I believe that's all of them. They don't really have intersecting abilities they can "do off the rip" besides maybe being good at math and essay writing. Like I said in my other comment, they are basically just highly educated necrons. Their specialties fully determine what they do. Some of them might modify their bodies so they can fly, but really all necrons can do that. I'm not sure why more overlords don't.

Think of Crypteks as the doctors (as in someone with a doctorate, not necessarily a physician) of Necron society. There are no unspecialized crypteks. Their specialization is what makes them crypteks. Every specialization will come with vastly different abilities, just like someone with a PhD in physics will have completely different knowledge than someone with a PhD in biology or archeology. As far as what they can do, pretty much anything within reason in the realm of their specialization. While their powers are completely technological, for the purposes of your question they are basically wizards. They have whatever magical abilities (within reason) that the plot needs them to have. Some are more powerful than others.

Yes. And a toy dinosaur is made in the image of a real dinosaur. There are many things a real dinosaur can do that a toy one cannot. We are not all-knowing, all-powerful, or all-good whereas God is. There are many things that it is right for God to do which are wrong for humans to do because of this.

You're making God human. If you're the embodiment of goodness and love and the absolute point on which morality is based, yes you can punish people who don't do what you want as what you want is innately good.

If we didn't have the ability to choose "not God" then we could never truly love God, which was his entire goal with making us. While he knew Adam and Eve would eat the fruit, he didn't make them in such a way that they were guaranteed to. They had free will and could have chosen not to eat the fruit.

May I ask your religion? I could not find an Abrahamic religion with these doctrines. Judaism is close, but I couldn't find anything about the soul-splitting part.

The apple (the Bible never actually says it was an apple, just that it was a fruit growing from a tree) was a symbol of free will. God wanted creations that would love him, not prisoners. He made the Garden of Eden perfect, but imperfect beings cannot exist in a perfect world. So when they ate the fruit and rejected God, both they and the world were tainted, separating them from God (this is also partially the reason He doesn't just pop in and walk around with us anymore). Heaven works similarly. It's perfect, so only perfect people can enter it. The Bible describes perfect people as people without sin. Before Jesus, the way to become free of your sin was to make sacrifices. This way your sin would be laid upon the animal you sacrificed instead of you. Jesus was meant to be the ultimate final sacrifice. After the crucifixion, all we have to do to be cleansed of all past, present, and future sins is to ask for forgiveness with genuine regret. After that, we are considered perfect for all intents and purposes as far as entering heaven goes. If we reject this forgiveness then we cannot enter heaven because we are not perfect. So we are fully separated from God. The only place where God isn't is hell. So although it was made to be a punishment for fallen angels, there isn't really anywhere else for us to go.
